Trying to dictate who the future Princess Consort might be has always been the job of the current king or queen. Arranged marriages was and still is the rule for royals.
Camilla was off the market since she’d already married Bowles. That likely pleased Liz since Camilla didn’t have enough royal blood and was just as much a dud as Charles. Charles needed to marry someone who could give him an image boost.
The divorce was caused by Chuckles wanting to be, in his words, Camilla’s tampon. Diana did her duty by giving the family an heir and a spare but that was the end of her usefulness to them. Chuckles treated her like dirt and couldn’t abide her popularity vs his ho hum boring lackluster public image. He nor Liz nor their grey suits helped her, shielded her or welcomed her much into the family.
It was the drunk driver and probably Dodi’s ego encouraging the driver to speed that caused her death.
That said, funny with the timing of this. Smoke and mirrors. Ignore the man behind the curtain. It smells of distraction. Phillip is dead. Liz is getting on in years. A couple years ago Liz presented Chuckles to the Commonwealth as her successor. Give pressers (who’s using who?) to take the blame off Chuckles and the family. Enter stage left Princess Consort Horseface with her proper British millinery.
I LOL when the media covered the Princess Dianna corrupt BBC story. Gayle King went on to say it’s a bad story for the media...ya think? The media is 98% corrupt Gayle, including YOU.

Well, Diana was no dummy, LOL! Now that she was leaving The Royals, a girl had to watch her cash flow, and a boyfriend who owned Harrods probably seemed like a smart move at the time. ;)
I remember hearing about her death on the news - and I cried like a baby at her televised funeral...in the middle of the night here in the USA if I remember correctly. I do remember setting an alarm to get up to watch it. I felt so bad for her boys and I loathed Charles and that hag Camilla, all the more. :(

I didn’t realize the U.K. has a first amendment. After all, that’s what this is really about. He already let that cat out of the bag. He’s also being dishonest because his Mother used the media to her advantage, as well. She didn’t deserve to die but let’s be honest about this.
Your putrid comment presupposes that the Palace wanted them to divorce instead of reconcile, when there were two children at home and no practical ability to control an ex-royal with a need for attention.
It does not seem logical that they would want her “out” rather than “in” where they could have some measure of control and/or help and healing for her. Modern monarchies can no longer send ex-queens to the Tower of London or the scaffold, and they know it. They also know that if they attempted to engineer a death, dozens of tattletales would come forward in the present era’s trash-tabloid world.
Diana’s personal decisions and actions contributed massively to her demise. She had on and off been suicidal since her childhood was wrecked by her parents’ divorce due to her mother’s infidelity, resulting in the abandonment of Diana and her brother by their mother.
While we may have sympathy for the damaged Diana, we can’t assume all blame belongs upon others when she was a grown adult not only with children, but in an uniquely influential situation where she could have done a great deal more good for herself, her children, her nation and the world had she worked effectively on her mental health instead of laying all her gripes out in the media, as Harry is so destructively doing.
That is ridiculous.
