whatever you do, don’t make black people feel uncomfortable.
Casual pants i.e. sweat pants.
VERY, VERY, VERY, Stupid!!!
I'm surprised he didn't claim he saw a noose as well.
A. Silly me. I thought Dominique was a girl’s name. Not that I care one way or another.
B. The first time I paid attention to that name was in 1963,
when Jeannine Deckers; the Singing Nun of France had a hit record named;
“Dominique. She sang folk style and accompanied herself on acoustic guitar.
I think the song was released just before JFK was killed.
Therefore, America was in very receptive mood for a sweet, soothing song by a French soprano.
So he was wearing sweatpants, not casual pants like khakis. Probably wearing a hoody sweatshirt as well, no class.
Maybe the restaurant was “at capacity” for COVID, and Dominique (girl’s name) couldn’t get it. Sounds like a fake hate crime to me.
Fake hate Crimes Index (needs updating):
I have been to a few nice upscale bars in several large cities and have noticed “No athletic wear” posted on the door.
Everyone knows it’s to keep out the inner city thugs.
and in, of all places, Atlanta.
You mean to tell me that someone in Atlanta sees a 6’8” black man, sees this man’s face, and doesn’t think they recognize him from all his years of playing for the Atlanta Hawks?
And the truth is I have no idea who this putz is or was.
it was. Now they are going to have to roll over for every person of color, regardless of the request or apparel, or else be branded racist.
unfortunately for Mr Wilkins, anyone who followed this story already knows it was about the dress code. No phony apology is going to cover that up. Wilkins reputation has taken a legitimate hit of his own making.
Any restaurant in Atlanta would go broke without black customers!
Dress code ... period.
I’ll bet it’s a lie or staged event.
Bars in my area are going back to ‘Members only” like they did in the 50’s to keep out certain people.
Usually a waiting list to get in.
I still have a few membership cars from back in the day.
“‘casual pants,’ a red shirt and sneakers.”
Prolly the sneakers that did it.
I’d expect them to turn me away too if i walked into a dress code establishment wearing sneakers.
Side note: I lived near Wilkins in the early 1990s and would see him frequently driving a black acura NSX. His house wasn’t anything too crazy. Not on the level of whitney houston and bobby browns aka “The Thevis Mansion” (I went to a high school party there one time one of their nieces threw... huge party)
