When your COGS go from 1 to nearly 1.5, things aren’t exactly “booming”. You must not be running a small business - you’re just comfortable commenting on them.

And the price of food and service will contine to spiral upward. Those on fixed incomes and fixed interest investments are going to be hurt. The old joke about $100 cheeseburgers are on the way.

A restaurateur acquaintance who is having difficulty restaffing told me that several of his servers have offered to return to work, provided they were paid off the books so that they could continue to collect their unemployment benefits and governmental subsidies. As my sainted grandmother used to say, "America Bella!" “.

And there you have the answer which I proposed for many years. Unemployment insurance is just that, insurance against catastrophic loss that is beyond your control. The answer is to pay a claim like any other valid insurance claim and that is in one lump sum. Calculate the total number of weeks and the amount per week and cut them a check. This takes away any and all strings and allows those who have incurred a legitimate loss to collect and go back to work immediately.

This post illustrates the problem perfectly.

“And the price of food and service will contine to spiral upward.”

Yes, higher wages will lead to higher prices, but do you advocate for lower wages for yourself?

My business was stagnant during the Obama reign. I grew three fold during Trump until the kung flu came along. It is still slow with the dirty old chomo and the democrats in office. Foolishly I didn’t just collect welfare and I have a well funded savings account. Live and learn.

Product is being withheld to try and kill off some businesses too. Satan’s people are hard at work. Evil runs the world. Satan told Christ to fall down and worship me and I ‘ll give you the kingdom’s of the world.

“trouble finding employees.” For sure. iHOP sent me an email about hiring. Cracker Barrel sent me a postcard in the mail about hiring. It sucks to interview young people with purple hair, tattoos and a “whatever” attitude. Bottom line: all businesses need big Christian families and no businesses need gay flags.

Those wages are the market reality and to compete for workers, small businesses will have to offer the same pay scale.

Wait, what??!!! So small businesses CAN pay $15.00/hr. I was told they can't and hamburgers would cost $25.00 each if the they did. Again many Fearpers are wrong.

My local McD’s is paying $15.00/hr to start. The prices are the same as they were 1 year ago.

Unemployment insurance is not insurance it’s welfare.

No, unemployment insurance is deducted from workers’ checks and it runs out (unlike multi-generational “welfare for life”).

Have you been to a sit down restaurant lately? A burger and fries does cost $25 dollars.

It is going to be the devil take the hindermost and people who can't increase their income are going to be impoverished.

A sit down hamburger does not cost $25.00 anywhere near where I live. Even if it did, and it doesn’t, it’s not because the dish washer in the back is making $15.00/hr. Next you are going to tell me there are jobs Americans won’t do....
