Thanks for posting.
No it’s nothing to take comfort in. We should be making the steel here, but I guess it’s better to destroy the planet burning coal in China than in the US.
Agreed. It was my first thought: Lord, importing monster cranes from China ... but with that as a given, at least we provided materials...
So the US is in the position of the Congo. We export cheap commodities and must rely on imports for high value added manufacturing.
Think about it.
I'm afraid that is the case. President Trump was working feverishly to reverse that........ but then ...
Yep. We used the think industries like steel were of vital strategic interest.
Then the free traders decided to sell them off for short term profit. Now China makes 7x the amount of steel we do.
In 1968-1971 we built these container handling cranes in the Bay area. Paceco Corp. It’s a shame we import them from China now. Paceco is still around, but I suppose it’s difficult to compete with slave labor.
Too bad Americans aren’t capable of building stuff like this, thank god for chinese slaves
That is the very definition of a colony.
It’s time we “decolonized.”

The Bay Bridge is not fabricated by the Chinese; that is the original Bay Bridge built in the 1930's. You must be thinking of the Oakland portion that links Oakland to Yerba Buena Island, which was recently built with Chinese steel.
Something else we can’t build in America?
The Golden Gate Bridge is named after the opening of the Bay to the Pacific Ocean, long called the Golden Gate by ship captains for centuries. Color is International Orange.
It is. That pic is the Bay Bridge, which it also cruised under.
#9 The best Chinese food is in Minnesota. I haven’t found anything as good in California (San Fernando valley).
The chow mein in Minn is the best. Out in CA not even close.
My favorite Chinese restaurants are on Mott and Bayard................Doyers ST too. 67 Mott, Hong Hing, was my favorite back in the 70’s across from Hung Fat’s. When I was on Grant street (SF) and ordered Chow Fun with Curry, they brought me something with the wide noodles and potatoes. They ran out of the flat rice noodles. I ate at the Ranch near Palo Alto in one of the few Chinese restaurants there, the fried rice was terrible. The best dishes were at the Ranch Market’s Cafeteria style counter.
