Well, the Olympics are now like the NFL to me. Thanks to ____________.
We wholeheartedly support Simone’s decision and applaud her bravery in prioritizing her well-being. Her courage shows, yet again, why she is a role model for so many.”
I hope her courage inspires Uncle Joe to do the right thing and resign too.
Imagine Tom Brady refusing to play the 2nd half of the Super Bowl because of “emotional” issues. He would be blasted unmercifully.
Never heard of this loser and I can’t say I’m better off for hearing about her.
She took a spot away from some tranny.
I wouldn't go that far!
I am still thinking there must be something else going on.
Betcha she’ll show up for the individuals! Screwed her TEAM out of theirs, but she’ll get hers.
Biles has withdrawn from the individual all around, probably with a big push from the coaches. Jade Carey will move up to the 2nd USA spot, and she has a decent chance at a medal.
She also should withdraw from the four event finals and give the other members of the team a shot, including Mykayla Skinner in the vault final.
If there is a silver lining, it’s giving others an opportunity to make Olympic history.
Now that Simone has set the precedent, will we now start to see professional atheletes (i.e. NFL, NBA, MLB) walk off of the field/court because of mental injuries?
So the new addition to “crazy world” is that quitters are “brave.”
“It’s time to tell it like it is, sports fans. Is the modern-day athlete a pale imitation of the great old warriors?”
Woke fail.
Talking heads on Fox falling all over themselves praising her move and promoting mental health. Right. Her mental health will go south once she wakes up and realizes her lifetime legacy of quitting on her team and country.
Let’s see. Four time (Olympics) GOLD Olympic champion. THE Face of women’s gymnastics. Has, what, four routines/difficulties named after her in multiple disciplines. GOAT has been thrown around so much that team USA even brought out an actual goat!
No, no pressure there.
Im 6’ tall. Biles could leap over me without even thinking about it.
Monday morning quarterbacking is all very well and good with a sport we’ve all played at some level in our lives. But I couldn’t even do what Simone does on my best day in my prime! Hell, I wouldn’t even attempt it.
Nope. I’m not going to try and second guess her decision. At some point you gotta take a time out and take care of you. The women grew up in that spotlight with that pressure.
The fact that it happened now is unfortunate and that’s all it is.
Maybe she thought the alternate could do a better job than she could. The team still got the silver.
The One World Olympics is well past its prime. Just end them, the world games work just fine for anyone still interested in this facade.
No, she quit and gave her team a better chance to medal. She wasn’t performing her best and she knew it. Had she tried to muscle through it, they might not have even got the bronze.
I don’t even begin to know the details of the situation for her, but giving accolades to someone for quitting doesn’t sound like genuine praise, it sounds like covering for something.
In general, outside of extenuating circumstances, quitters deserve no praise.
My sister saw her performance on the floor exercise. She literally went out of bounds. Then she made a major mistake in the pummel horse. Those incidents were before she withdrew. She clearly was not performing well and her scores were a drag on the team’s standings. Whatever is messed up in her head, she was likely right to withdraw.
