That depends.
Is the point of the vaccination to prevent people from getting COVID or is the point of the vaccination to prevent people from getting really sick or dying from COVID?
If it's the former, clearly the vaccines are not effective. But now people will move the goalposts and point to the huge number of positive cases in P-town and say the vaccines worked because there were only a few hospitalizations and zero deaths amongst the vaccinated population. But here we're talking about a population of mostly men in their 30s. Gay or not, these aren't a high-risk category for COVID mortality which, as we have known from the beginning, is mostly devastating to the elderly and morbidly obese.
You could look at P-town and conclude that the vaccines really made no difference. Old people are still going to get COVID and die while younger people are still going to get COVID and survive. And I say this as a vaccinated person, FWIW.
It is not my intention to be judgemental here. My intention is to shine a light on the way in which a "quirky" place like Provincetown is being trotted out by the clueless as the "norm" for the rest of the country in terms of new COVID-19 outbreaks.
