Think of them as “emergency food supply.”
Before or after you run out of neighbors?
My across the street neighbor has a dog so small there would be less to eat than on a very small chicken
I’m tired of people telling me that the death of a pet is the same as the death of a child, hence the term “furbaby”. I have cats. I know they are going to die after 10-15 years. Then I go get another one.
Never mind they also eat rats.
I tend to view people who refer to their ‘fur-babies’ as somewhat emotionally stunted.
Yep, i never understood, how some people, in particular childless people, put animals on the same level as people.
Love and pamper your pet if you wish, but a pet is not the same as a human child or other human being.
Seattle for decades has had more annual pet licenses than live human births. We we all can see or read about Seattle and know how that’s working out for them. Such losers.
A woman’s place is at a job providing more income tax to government.
Nobody’s stopping people from forming families.
I find most writers along these lines, supposedly from conservatives, are actually from young DC think tank married, white fathers who advocate massive government subsidies for their children.
Exactly!!
I have lost many pets. I have survived them all, including the loss of a beloved dog that was a little ‘other worldly’.
However, while sad, I survived them and have moved on to find other beloved pets.
However, if I were to lose my daughter, I’d probably follow soon after. I can’t even imagine such a thing.
This author should also comment on how many veterans need emotional support dogs.
When in fact they need to go back in time, grow up in a functional family and environment, and then go off to war.
Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe I missed seeing millions of WWII vets some 60 years ago with Sergeant on a leash in the local restaurant.
I have never heard a human utter such an equivalence. Are you sure you’re hearing that right?
Ain’t that the truth? I’ve never seen it happen, but I’ve heard that it has actually happened at the death of a child:
“I know just how you feel. When Mr. Whiskers died, I could not eat or sleep....”
Hey, I’d be more than happy to make human babies, but it’s kinda hard when you don’t have a female to make them with.
What creepy also is Pet names are becoming more humanized,
That is, instead of a dog or cat being called “Speckles”, “Spike” or “fluffy”, etc, they are giving Human names like “Steven”, “Micheal” or “Samantha”.
Sadly, today while pets are getting more traditional names, actual kids are being given more & more stupid names
For some people, it IS like losing a child. I just lost a 3-year old cat back in May and watched as she deteriorated before that. It’s an awful thing to experience.
My son used to have a miniature Chihuahua. She was the cutest dog. He gave her to our neighbor across the street and every time they were outside and she saw either my son or me, she came running over across to us wagging her tail. Unfortunately they moved to Alabama and took her with them. He got a job there. My son was disappointed and said to me if he had known that he would have kept her.
