College needs to go. It should be as simple as showing up and writing all the necessary tests an industry needs to show competence and, upon passing with a sufficient grade, give the applicant a job.

That's how it used to be.

Then the Supreme Court decreed, in Griggs v Duke Power(1970) that any test which has blacks passing at a lower rate than whites is illegal discrimination. So companies instead started demanding college degrees.

Pass a law that says testing is not illegal discrimination, and the whole college establishment comes crashing down.

I think you’re right on target. The problem IS women. I’m about to cancel my membership in a prominent business networking group for that very reason. The leadership of this group has become dominated by women, and that has brought two things that make it a non-starter for me as a business owner:

1. More and more of the companies represented there are in industries that aren’t target clients for me.

2. At least 75% of the event notifications I receive from the group are for useless, pandering events like a “Women’s Networking Event,” “Women Entrepreneurs Golf Outing,” and crap like that.

In simple terms, the organization has become a dull, pointless waste of time.

Women do not like to date/marry “down” as a general rule

It's called "hypergamy", the desire of women to mate with the best available. Women would rather stay home than go out with someone who doesn't meet their standards. Men are less picky.

Women would rather share "Prince Charming", than have "Jack the auto mechanic" all to themselves. Go to a book store and browse the back covers of "romance novels" to see what women fantasize about.

The article is all about women being deprived of what they regard as suitable mates, because more and more men have stopped playing the game.

THIS is the "heart" of the matter.

Women today have skewed values / criteria, are unwilling to invest time and energy in assessing the male candidates' qualities themselves and so rely instead upon "placeholders" or "proxies" like college degrees. The sex as a whole has always been notoriously hypergamous (meaning that they want someone who offers more than they themselves offer - "fairness" be damned!), but this is ridiculous.

Shouldn't, by the same token, any university that graduates Blacks at a lower rate than it graduates Whites also be deemed "discriminatory?"

That's why "Black Studies" was created, so that colleges could grant some sort of diploma to illiterates.

It's called "hypergamy", the desire of women to mate with the best available.

That is NOT an accurate definition of "hypergamy."

Men, too, would like to mate with the best-available female.

But if it becomes clear that that female is not, in fact, available, then men are more flexible in lowering their standards until they find a female who is "willing."

Hypergamy does not refer to the "best available." It refers to always wanting a mate with a higher status, above-average characteristics - than one's own.

Typically, women will rate about 80% of all men as "below-average in appearance." Typically, women will demand that the man be six-foot tall (automatically excluding about 90% of all men). Typically, women will demand that the man earn much more than they, themselves do.

THAT is hypergamy.

My wife and I separated for ~7 months a few years ago and the # of options I had in my mid 30s with a MBA and corp exec job compared to when I was 20 as a college drop-out was staggering to me - most of them were crazy although plenty of hotties across the age range from 19 to 40 - didn’t find many of them very interesting either. My wife and I ended up working things out fortunately and are happily together but if we ever did divorce, I’d never in a million years get re-married and risk alimony/splitting more assets/etc. The game is rigged so I’d play it my way, if at all.

I agree. However, the Griggs vs. Duke Power case about 50 years ago made it extremely difficult to do this as the aptitude tests had a "disparate impact" on minorities. So now a college degree is used in place of such tests.

You are correct. Hypergamy is all about competition among women for the same top 10% of men.

You also have women spending their teens and 20’s chasing the same “cute guys” (tall, good looking, “genetically superior” physically), then reluctantly “settling” for a guy with decent earning power in their 30’s.

Some women choose to be “single moms”, having kids by the cute guys, then looking for some hard-working shlub to marry and support them and their spawn.

What you discovered is that women peak in their desirability in their 20's, while men reach their peak in their 30's. The reason is that men prefer younger women, while women prefer high-status men. A 35 year old man can date unattached women down into their 20's, while a woman of 35 will find the number of suitable single men in her desired age range (32-40, or so) to be much smaller, AND the more desirable ones are chatting with younger women.

A guy at the OkCupid dating site wrote an article on the suject The case for an older woman, where he suggested young guys (20-25) who are not having much luck with girls their age, consider dating older women.
