All they need is a continuing resolution, without new spending and new debt, and “crisis” averted. The fact they can’t even do that is the actual problem. They leverage it to brinkmanship to get more and more.

You know that the Democrats fear what would happen if they lost power after removing the filibuster, or they would have done it long ago.
The elections are not soon, it couldn’t be farther away from any election, anything farther out than 6 months is eternal in politics. HW was at an unprecedented 90+% approval at this time and lost reelection with only 38%. Even 9-11 was a joke, nobody cares, 6 months after 9-11 the flags were all gone. No one was united. People do not stay mad about anything. Life proves this over and over
