Bernhard Goetz did something. Look what happened to him.
Plenty of people have tried to do something and received injury or death for their trouble.
In another time, people and police would have done something enough times to make riding the subways safe. But that was a good 75 years or so ago.

If you work late nights, you have to ride late at night, unless you have a car. I don't know whether she was working at night, but many Philadelphians do not drive.
Once I witnessed what appeared to be a gang rape (or at least an attempted one) in broad daylight in Philly. I had no cell phone back then. I ran into the subway, banged on the ticket window, and told the SEPTA ticket-taker, who picked up the phone and called police immediately.
I wonder what the demographics of the witnesses are?

Blacks are precious and above the law. They can do whatever they want. Any white bystanders would have been the ones in trouble. That's today's world.

I thought certain attributes were indicative of white proviledge. Such as hard work and showing up on time. Does defending the weak also indicative? It is hard to tell without a power point presentation.
