My impression is that they aren’t looking for any sort of tax fraud, but evidence of other possible shenanigans.
If there is a political motivation, then Congress has no right to see the returns.
Congress only has necessary and proper legislative investigative powers.
Misusing the power of Congress for political witchhunts is totally improper.
I threw that out as a basic truism.
