I propose “squa”.
Only idiots say a mere use of any native American word or term implies a “slur”. There may be such examples but it is a linguistic and historical error to imply every such use of a native American, or native American associated, phrase is a slur. It’s totally not true.
Squaw is not a slur even if some stupid cowboy in a Hollywood movie used the term with that intent. It was no more a slur than saying a “black” man was “black” or a “white” man was “white”, no matter the ignorant intent of the speaker.
That is like banning the word woman or man…
Or parent, dad or mom … Oh wait, they are banning those also !
Zappa’s brain police at it again.
Ya beat me to it. I guess I should’ve scrolled first.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve always felt ‘Native American’ is wrong.
They were here long before this continent was called ‘America’.
I take so much pleasure in not having precolombian primitives in my area. After the Revolution, the English took their conspiring bastard Indians to Canada, and left my region almost perfectly clear. “Thank you!” Of course we now have floods of low status immigrants being smuggled in by the Democrats...
Must also ban squawl and squawk for those times the l or k goes missing.
Nothing like ending racism by banning the very word for
woman in Native American language. It may have a little
different meaning technically, but same difference.
How does it help Native Americans to eliminate any outward
appearances of respect and their strong characters, to
eliminate them from the English language?
Something is eating away at the minds of a lot of our
citizens. Was it part of why the jab was so important?
“try calling them “natives” and see how that goes over....”
Bad part is that they are. If you, like me, was born in the US, we are too. Does it bother you? And unless it is characterized that way, it won’t bother anyone. Changing history, to include our language, is dishonest. And to make matters worse, it violates the first amendment greater than the use of the words independently.

I guess it is a good thing that Amerigo Vespucci’s first name wasn’t Fred and the locals were called Fredians. Then all the Freds in the country would be insulted and would demand a change in the local’s name.
But I guess it could have been worse. And whose to blame, the parents that name them that? Class action suit. And calling them indigenous people makes them all sound like Harvard graduates. Everyone has to have them and their entire family history going back to Cro-Magnon sanitized or life as we know it will disintegrate. Mars doesn’t sound too bad.

When I was growing up it seemed to me it was used in movies and TV shows the same as fräulein or señorita, just as a nod to a different culture.
“squaw,” a slur against Native American women,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Who made that “official” determination? I could be coaxed out of retirement to have that job.
I consider washing clothes, doing the dishes, house cleaning as squaw work.
I guess I am now a racist.
Not to mention sexist and misogynist and probably don’t care a lot for the plight of the poor mistreated queers and democrats either.
(meant to be humorous)
BUT-—Calif allows “BITCH” & “WHORE” into thousands of hours of “MUSIC”.
Liberals hate native americans.
