and hasn’t rearmed in a nuclear sense since joining NATO.

It is ludicrous for Russia to claim and attack Ukraine on that basis. It would be like England claiming and then attacking and seizing Denmark and Norway because, after all, in the same era, England's King Alfred the Great defeated the Vikings, thereby giving England a claim in perpetuity to all their lands and territories.
Or, in the Middle East context, it would be like modern Egypt claiming Israel on the basis that the Jews, as Egypt's runaway slaves, owed themselves and their territories to Egypt.

The modern, secular state of Israel was created in 1948. That it was named after Biblical Israel does not mean its creation was prophecy, other than the self-fulfilling kind.
I don’t have all the answers, and this is way bigger than Putin, but Putin and the left have been subverting the US all along.

When considering Israeli politics, bear in mind that Russian is one of the top three ‘native’ languages in Israel, spoken by about 20% of the population and, Russians are the second-most tourists to Israel after the US, accounting for 80% of medical treatment tourism and 30-40% of all tourist dollars spent. Israel also exports a lot of produce to Russia. Which is why some in Israel feel they have a ‘special relationship’ (loyalty?) with Russia. And why they offer themselves as ‘mediators’ since their economy takes a hit when Russia’s economy takes a hit.
