I read articles from time to time on the NR website. Michael Brendan Dougherty has some good pieces from the traditionalist Catholic viewpoint. Alexandra DeSanctis is good on pro-life reporting.

Victor Davis Hanson is good, though he parted company with them recently.

But overall, I agree with this piece. NR has become increasingly irrelevant after Bill Buckley died. They represent a sort of preppy Ivy League conservatism that has declined over the past few decades. Consider Ivy League and elite prep school students 40 or 50 years ago. They might have been split evenly between liberals and conservatives. Now the Ivy League and elite prep school world is overwhelmingly liberal/hard left. I’d be shocked if even 10% of students at a school like Yale voted for Trump or would vote for any GOP candidate.

NR bashes Tucker Carlson, but ironically he IS their old audience. He is one of those preppy conservative of the ‘80s who read NR and he still dresses the part (sans bow tie, more recently). But the difference between them is that Tucker recognizes that the world has changed and the audience has changed, and he’s living in 2022, not 1982.

Yep. The NR became irrelevant when they turned towards Trump bashing.

One has to look beyond Trumps superficial personality (a narcasistic shithead) and realize he was the best thing to happen to this country since Reagan.
