If one knew that confrontation would be increased, that a war would be sparked within 6 months, and you would be sending weapons to bleed Russia, you wouldn’t want your troops (or reputation) subject to the same situation in Afghanistan, would one?

It's a robocop war. I watched some videos on use of these weapons in Ukraine against Russian tanks. The scary one is I think the NLAW shoulder fired missile. The operator selects the target with a down-arrow pointed down at the tank, holds the view for 3 to 5 seconds and fires. He can then move away and the missile does the rest, the electronics follow the tank and detonate above the tank, burning a hole from above and baking the tank soldiers. Doesn't have to make contact with the tank at all.
