The perp is a protected class POC, and his victim was a white male. Obviously, this was a justified shooting because...well, just because.

I believe he deliberately murdered the man. He left the scene and turned himself in after lawyering up.
When I say it should never have happened, I mean his story is implausible. If it had happened that way, as a accident, he would been concerned about the man he just shot.

Sit in your car, imagine how unlikely it would be that your pistol would be aimed at the head of a person in a van who is seated quite a bit higher than you.
And speeding off? That clinches it in my mind.
That was part of the joke, i.e., that I’m just that fumble-fingered. No biggie!
This reminds me of a story: *everyone starts groaning* This person who was a truck driver that I used to follow on twatter said he got pulled over on a route by a Canadian border guard guy. He was asked if he had a firearm and he answered truthfully “yes.” They brought him and his semiauto pistol into the office and the cop or whatever he was started trying to take the ammo out of the gun. The trucker admitted to being very, very nervous! The other guy emptied the magazine by racking the side over the desk blotter until the magazine was empty (instead of removing the magazine and then removing the chambered round).

DON’T TELL ME-—HE has a criminal record a mile long—and his JUVIE record is sealed.
But, but, but... he was a fine man, aspiring to become a nuclear engineer and a neurosurgeon, wanted to go to college, had two dogs and a whole bunch of babies from several baby mommas... he just needed another gun-handling lesson and he’d have been OK.
Never at a red light; it isn’t sporting. I always unloaded mine (9-shot .22 revolver) while moving at least 25 mph.
I managed to hit at least 75% of the tarantulas running across the pavement that I was aiming at as I unloaded it.
Near sunset in the 1966 summer, they ran by the dozen across a back road in the southern Arizona desert. It was great target practice after work in Tucson.
