As long as they contained the BIOLABS.
Uh oh...the Putin Puffers will not be happy with you. They hate the truth.
Do people still buy this garbage or is it like the Babylon Bee and we are to play along, because these stories have become a parody
Or storing it there which is more than likely if the facility is not operational. The radiation from weapons grade material would not be distinguishable from the radiation that is present there.
I addressed this in another post.
“I thought Chernobyl has been cleaned up decades ago ...”
Decontamination is not reclamation. As an example the firefighters who gave their lives to stop the radiation from escaping - all their equipment, PPE etc... has been put in the cellar of one of the reactor buildings and it is one of the highest radiation areas on the entire complex.
I don’t remember the exact number, but something like that. It’s called the “exclusion zone” for a reason. If you go in, you’re supposed to stay for a limited time, go with a trained escort, take a geiger counter, not disturb anything, not eat anything from there, etc. An army going in and kicking up dust with heavy vehicles, digging foxholes, etc., breaks all of the rules.
It's been shut down for 20 years.
It has never been cleaned up, but there are swaths of areas that are safe to travel through, even on foot.
Tourist companies could take you through to literally visit the area, safely.
Wildlife runs wild and is growing. There are a few people who still live there and farm the land in safe zones.
It is pretty crazy, but there are a few YouTube documentaries available about life after.
I think they were looking for nuclear material being stored there. A perfect hiding place.
I thought we read when they went there that it was important geographically to their plans to surround Kiev.
Just think if the President of Belarus was overthrown.
Russia would be TOTALLY f’d.
HBO Series entitled Chernobyl is very good. Would encourage all to watch.
That was as predictable and as preventable as the Russian invasion of Ukraine was when Biden was placed in the White House!
When Trump was removed from office! When the US Supreme Court REFUSED to examine evidence of massive election fraud in the 2020 Presidential election!
Some people cannot understand the relationship between cause and effect. There is a name for them. It is stupid people. Their number is legion, and the most dangerous of them are well educated. Education cannot compensate for stupidity. In fact it is often used to conceal stupidity and to empower the stupid.
Those of us who can recognize the relationship between cause and effect must find ways to circumnavigate the foolishness of those who cannot, especially the educated ones and those who have achieved positions of power and influence, and it is very difficult to do, but that is our challenge.
They prove time after time the age old adages:
I don't think it's particularly hard to tell the difference between the radiation from a chunk of plutonium and the radiation from stuff contaminated with fission daughters like Cs-137. Plutonium produces mostly alphas. Cs-137 has a high-energy gamma band, which is what makes it unusually dangerous.
Must be a new type of radiation, affecting only Russians, but not detectable elsewhere (as in Europe).
There is a video game put called S.T.A.L.K.E.R thatnis set around chernyobl which does a pretty good job of giving a sense of radiation poisoning, and just overall creepiness around the area. Th3y have a new one coming out this year too. Kudos to the folks that created it, cool game.
But yeah, that radiation is nothing to mess with. Josh gates did a show there once and had to skidaddle out of there because readings were getting too high. This was only a couple years ago too.
Chernobyl is a Kyiv suburb and on the direct invasion route from Belarus to Kyiv. The Russians attacked through it because it was lightly defended since who attacks a nuclear accident site? Putinist Russia, apparently.
Then they should have sent in trained specialists with equipment, not conscripts with spades and AK-74s.
