You expect people to remember that?
That would be like Biden promising there would be no vaccine mandate, no increase in taxes, transient inflation, and best of all not defunding the police (he was for it before he was against it).
You were able to reinvent yourself even in the past.
But today you can do it in 6 months and especially if you’re a Democrat, no one will remember a thing.

Here’s Willard’s opportunity to run against the Pedophile as the Demonrat nominee in 2024. In that instance, he’d actually run to win. Although you describe a good fit for Willard as a Dem, I somehow suspect that he's considering going third party rogue (after losing the GOP nod), seeking votes from an imaginary middle ground.
He would be handing the POUTS to the Dems, but hey...
