Our local grocery store has the fresh mint leaves. I’ve been buying them there on Derby day for years. I also add just a smidgen of simple syrup.

I have always liked Early Times; it is one of the mildest Kentucky whiskies. But it is not bourbon, and thus is not a “pure” mint julep for Derby Day (at least nowadays). Hey, I’m a traditionalist; what can I say?

But, whatever you choose for your mint julep...ENJOY THE RUN FOR THE ROSES!

We live in northern Illinois, but we are from Louisiana. Nothing beats a Mint Julep on a summer evening, sitting in the courtyard.

Was a big horse-racing fan. Then the virtue-signaling began since BLM rioted.

Haven’t watched since.

Don’t even know of any of the horses as of now. Sad.

My horses still haven’t betrayed me, but the humans did. Jockeys, tracks, everything. To hell with them.
