Would there be any particular reason that Trump would have increased his Kansas turnout by 100,000 over his 2016 outing?

Speculation on my part, but in 2016, Trump was largely unknown, a New York Democrat who who said that he was conservative, but had not acted like one. That song is what we have been getting from Establishment Republicans for years.

He made a number of promises and he delivered despite push back from the Democrats, his own party, and especially his own Administration bureaucrats. He was rewarded for it in 2020. Noteworthy is that Kansas has been a reliable Republican vote for President and Senate for decades, but not so much for Governor and Federal House. The Governor job flip flops quite a bit over the years. Trump will win in a walkover in 2024, Kelly will lose his year, and the single Democrat House seat will become Republican. The State level offices will do well for Republicans in both 2022 and 2024. Douglas and Wyandotte will be the lonely blue dots on the prairie.
