“”Its a naturally occurring substance in the earth unrelated to fossils of any kind.””
That’s total and complete Bull Shit! Crude oil is the results of millions, billions of years of sediment and organic matter settling to the ocean floor.
OK first things first. The US does not consume 7 billion barrels of oil a day.
No the earth does not produce oil and gas. Organic deposits laid down millions of years ago is what produces oil and gas.
It delivers as fast as we can find it and produce it, there just has to be enough profit to justify.
It’s produced from organic material build up on ocean floors.
Any type of organic matter with the biggest supply furnished by plankton.
My bad, 7 billion a year not day.
Still 43 billion is only 6 years supply at our current rate of consumption.
I’m not sure that the earth doesn’t produce oil and gas. I know the traditional theory was that it was based on organic deposits, but that has become a little controversial in recent years. But I’ve not seen proof the conventional theory is wrong.
And again, even if the earth is continuing to produce it either through organic or non-organic methods, at what rate does it produce it?
I was against us exporting oil products. I’d rather keep ours in the ground and buy oil from others, but not liquidate the country to do so. There is always a balance.
Joe’s attack on the oil industry, might actually serve us well in the end. But we would be much better served, if we actually had put alternatives in place, rather than forcing a crisis to get the market to respond.
It takes 5 to 7 years to build a nuclear power plant. I don’t think that includes the regulatory hurdles.
Wrong about oil. It’s considered a mineral. Earth science is not the only discipline that gets to use the word and define it.

“Read up on the legal definition of minerals”
Your link doesn’t include a legal definition.
Minerals Definition
Mineral is a naturally occurring inorganic solid with a definite chemical composition and a crystalline structure.
The earth is composed of mineral elements, either alone or in a myriad of combinations called compounds. A mineral is composed of a single element or compound. By definition, a mineral is a naturally occurring inorganic substance with a definite chemical composition and ordered atomic structure.
Examples of Minerals
Table salt is a mineral called sodium chloride. Its ordered structure is apparent because it occurs in crystals shaped like small cubes.
Another common mineral is quartz, or silicon dioxide. Its crystals have a specific hexagonal shape. Coal is a mineral composed entirely of carbon, originally trapped by living organisms through the process of photosynthesis.
The carbon in coal is therefore of organic origin which leads some authorities to object to the definition of a mineral as an inorganic substance.
Limestone is a rock composed of a single mineral calcium carbonate. On the basis of their origin on earth rocks may be divided into three primary categories: igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic.
Which is a mineral?
Minerals are substances naturally formed in the Earth. Minerals are typically solid, inorganic, have a crystal structure and are formed by geological processes naturally. A mineral may consist of a single chemical element or a compound more usually.
I was thinking of the ‘handing out dimes on the street’ story.
Course there was no income tax then.
Volume of sales allows price lowering. I don’t know about his 10%. What was his salary based on?
I was referring to the ‘peak oil’ narrative popularized before fracking.
Have you familiarized yourself with opec?
Soros appears to be the new bogieman; but I hope you are not suggesting there is nothing to fear from the WEF and/or its cloudy appendages.

Why is Oil not a true mineral because?
Oil is not a mineral because in order to be a mineral it must have three things,1) must have a definite crystalline structur, 2) must not be organic in nature and 3) it must be a naturally occurring substance, oil is only naturally occurring but does have a crystalline structure at all, and is made out of organic plant material that decomposed many years ago.
In addition, a mineral is defined as a solid. Oil is a liquid.

Not plausible — absolutely positively certain. I worked in an organic chemistry laboratory where we produced oily gunk with just about every hydrocarbon you could imagine.
Yeah, you just gave to look for it. Ceding “mineral” rights include oil. I’m not discussing this further. You need to understand that different disciplines define some words differently. In common usage and in legal contracts mineral rights include oil. For those purposes, oil is a mineral.
The law has defined a tomato as a vegetable but botanists define it as a fruit.

“Yeah, you just gave to look for it.”
It is not there.
Just because mineral rights include oil does not make oil a mineral.
Surface rights include underground tanks but they are still under ground, not on the surface.
” You need to understand that different disciplines define some words differently. “
I get it. Like how a man is legally a woman and can use female facilities.

I get it! Legally, bees are fish!
