Emerald Robinson lied.

To put it more bluntly, Emerald Robinson is an idiot. It took all of 15 minutes to determine that yes, candidates actually have and do get 74% or more the of votes in a primary, and that it does not involve massive fraud. What’s sad is the number of people that never questioned Robinson’s idiotic claim.

DiogenesLamp: "And this is the tool with which the elites have held onto power since Abraham Lincoln."

As per usual, you have it exactly backwards.
Lincoln, like Trump, was the populist candidate elected to break the stranglehold of elitist Southern Democrats over Washington and their Northern Democrat allies in big cities like New York.

Republicans then as now we're the party of small farmers, small business, small towns, & suburbs, skilled workers & religious conservatives.
Democrats then as now we're the party of big business, big slaveholders, big city immigrants.

DiogenesLamp: "I will further add that they didn't give former slaves the right to vote because it was the moral and proper thing to do, they gave them the vote because they knew they would always vote to keep the liberal elite in power."

Nonsense, the Civil War perfectly aligned all the stars -- military, economic, political & moral to make abolition & citizenship the only viable Republican alternative.
For some Republicans moral imperatives predominated, while others more readily saw political or other advantages.
All of those interests were at play.

FL got rid of some crooks in Miami/Dade. That’s what made the difference. It’s not the rules, it’s the people.

If we had good people in government, the government would not be crooked.

Bad people covet and obtain roles in government. Now they control it, for the most part.

Interesting theory. You think the average Northern voter was concerned about an unholy alliance between New Yorkers and slave holders?

I would think they voted for Lincoln because they liked him and because he gave good speeches. I doubt many got into deeper issues than that.

Republicans then as now we're the party of small farmers, small business, small towns, & suburbs, skilled workers & religious conservatives. Democrats then as now we're the party of big business, big slaveholders, big city immigrants.

That's exactly backwards. (mostly)

The wealthy elite big business types were Republicans during the later half of the 19th century and early 20th century.

Here is a simple clue to keep everything straight.

Big City Liberals: "Hamiltonians."

Small town rural conservatives. "Jeffersonians."

Nonsense, the Civil War perfectly aligned all the stars -- military, economic, political & moral to make abolition & citizenship the only viable Republican alternative.

So which party did they vote for?
