What did he do?

I read last night that something horrific about him was going to be released on Friday.

“But my take is that they’re still sore on Brexit...”

Your take is very different from Nigel Farage.

Eva Vlaardingerbroek, pretty lady. Apparently a contributor to Mark Steyn online, therefore smart as well.

Watching a few Brit Commentators, I think Johnson was fine until he started lying to cover his arse.
Unlike here, the British seem to really think the lying is maybe the worst thing a politician can do.
Here it seems to be part of the job description.

Maybe that nasty Muslim London mayor can take Boris’ place. Would fit right in with the open border globalist supporters seeking the great replacement and destruction of Christendom.

There’s a long standing and absolute rule of conduct in British politics that a minister must not tell a bare faced lie at the despatch box. This is partly because every word said at the despatch box is committed to the Hansard record.

(Try not to laugh).

No, really - many ministers over the years have apologised and corrected the record if they’ve inadvertently “made a statement in error”. Some even resign if they’ve inadvertently misled the House and the error had a lasting effect.

In return for this assumption of accepting responsibility, it is assumed that politicians are inherently “honourable” and that’s why an MP can be thrown out of the chamber for refusing to withdraw an accusation of another MP lying.

Which is a source of occasional genius workarounds. Dennis Skinner, “the Beast of Bolsover” was one MP who had lots of fun with it. Like this exchange.

Dennis: “Half of the Tories opposite are crooks!”
The speaker: “Please retract.
Dennis: “OK, half the Tories opposite aren’t crooks!”

Boris lied so often at the despatch box that it made a laughing stock of the convention. He never apologised, often refused to correct the record. But with an 80 seat majority only his own Party could sanction him.

The final straw was when he changed his story several times in relation to promoting a sex pest... Only days after basically being told by his own party that he’d survived a confidence vote despite the misgivings of his colleagues.

First of all he denied it happened at all. Then he said he hadn’t been told. Then he said he’d been told, but had forgotten.

Then it came out that he’d known from day one.

The weirdness of our system is, Boris wasn’t torpedoed by him giving a sex pest a promotion, he was torpedoed by going through every conceivable permutation of lying and buck-passing to the point where MPs who tried to defend him were basically breaching their own code of conduct.

Another parliamentary convention is, if a minister is so mired in controversy that the normal business of government is being constantly distracted by their misconduct hogging the news, that is a legitimate basis to demand a resignation. John Major had confidence in ministers who outstayed their welcome because they were mired in sleaze and the media wouldn’t let him change the subject.

A third convention is, if 50 ministers and aides resign in sequence because they’ve had enough of you, then you’re the problem. The only other party leader to ignore that one in recent years is Jeremy Corbyn,

It’s a common known fact that Boris ruffles his hair deliberately to mess it up... it’s part of his disarming strategy.

Another Boris tactic is to turn up to a talk pretending he’s lost his notes and can’t remember what he’s there to talk about, so instead of saying what he’s there to say he can fake chaos before launching into a completely pre-prepared ad-lib performance that has people laughing.
