This is a problem with a huge, distant government that manages huge money flows that go to who knows where.
Click bait. When I have to go searching for what state they are talking about it’s nothing but click bait.
At minimum the state should have been mentioned by the thread maker by putting it in brackets in the title.
The great unspoken truth about bloated government at all levels is the unbelievable corruption that siphons off untold $billions to crooks inside and outside those governments. The news media avoids investigating and reporting this like it’s a plague. It is a plague, but it’s their plague (worshipers of big government).
Our Money? How can that be when it printed out of thin air?

The unspoken secret is - the highest-level government apparatchiks know this will happen, and don’t care.

PEOPLE IN JAIL/PRISON were getting PPP money to ‘keep their payrolls afloat’.
There were all kinds of scams with prisoners involved.

California governor Gavin Newsom got about $3 million in PPP money for his business that was given to him many years ago by one of the 5 families that run things in politics in the state.
He received the money just 11 days after asking.
Many business’s got nothing or waited months. Over 40% of the business’s in Los Angeles went out of business. Similar in San Francisco where he was once mayor.
He misappropriated $1.4 BILLION to buy masks from a Chinese BUS company. No masks ever arrived. Many articles on this here in the state but he has not been jailed.
American Enterprise Institute’s Matt Weingarten reports that the state of Illinois lost half of the money it sent out in expanded pandemic unemployment benefits to scammers.

Elected representatives, at any level, are the least qualified, least intelligent and most corrupt individuals that can be found in a society.
They are incapable of successfully working/living/producing as a contributing part of the general population.
They can only exist as as do nothing, elected leach on the society that spends the majority of their time engaged in stealing everything they can from the people.
They are scum.
Illegal activity is one of the ways that black budgets are paid. All the bad actors in the world could be contained and neutralized in an instant; the technology to do this has existed for a long time. But they serve an immense purpose - to upend the social order, to compromise civil society. To do harm and cause chaos in all facets of life.
What pisses me off is my sister is in her last stage of dementia and I got off the phone with social security and they said she didn’t qualify for low income assistance (she gets 1900/month in alimony and 254 from social security) and her assisted living is $2500/month. She got an inheritance of $10k and another 10k coming in December and her kids when I asked them to help supplement said to have her run thru her inheritance and then if she s still alive then they will help. But illegals can get ALL sorts of money from us. A military wife for over 20 years, did 3 separate tours in Germany with her then husband and we get the big finger from the gov’t
Crony political government in a defacto one party state.
And it’s not even a matter of state taxes being too low; in comparison with other states they rank in the lowest five states (per person).
I had some 2nd hand dealings with the state bureaucracy in 2019. I learned they were massively incompetent and with no one really trying to fix anything.
