Thank you for being one of the very few people on this site who appreciate the fact that nuclear weapons require constant and ongoing maintenance. Not to mention the delivery systems that have to carry them.

We, as ordinary people don’t know whether Russia adequately maintains their special weapons and delivery systems or not. Maybe intelligence services know, but they didn’t seem to have any special insights on conventional weapon upkeep. I would assume the nuclear payloads are fully operational and that the ballistic missiles are as well — their space delivery systems work pretty well.

Wrong. Russia’s Mayak nuclear weapons plant has been offline since a major disaster in 2017. A new plant is still under construction and construction has all but stopped due to sanctions.
Russia has not built a new nuclear device since 2017 nor have they refurbished an old one.
As to how well they maintain their dwindling stock of functional weapons I’d be very surprised if they were doing all the costly things required. That kind of money is too tempting for corrupt Russians.
I guess, according to you, Russia is incapable of launching a nuclear attack.
Hint: A ten megaton weapon that explodes with the force of, say, only 4 megatons would still be bad for your neighborhood.

I didn’t say that. Even if 80% of the remaining Russian nukes fail there will still be horrible devastation. But it will be worse for Russia because our nukes are all functional. We spend quite a bit of money to make sure they work.
NATO will take serious damage in a nuclear exchange but Russia will cease to exist. In the days after the initial exchange missiles and bombs will continue to pummel Russia.
Russia will commit national suicide if they go nuclear. There will be no other outcome and they are deluded if they think otherwise.
That’s not how these things work.
They work or they ‘fizzle’. Or they come apart during launch. It happens.
But they never ‘kind of work’. It’s a pass/fail event.
Of course Russia with around 140 million is going to abort fewer fetuses at around 50 per 1000 than a country of 330 million at 20 per thousand. The difference is we still have a growing population and Russia is loosing population. I suspect US has a higher percentage of people of reproductive age.

Completely FALSE. There is NO official US government policy to attack, invade, or annex parts of Russia. Fringe groups with a map don’t count.
I’ll grant that this guy probably holds a fringe view and that there is no official Russian policy to do this.
However, this guy is the equivalent of Nancy Pelosi speaking publicly about the US annexing part of Russia. A major government representative saying it is quite different from a silly fringe map in either country.
