They seem to bounce back and forth.
Mumbai is a beach city. So stays cooler with ocean breezes especially if you are rich enough to live facing the ocean.
But it is humid in Mumbai. My town was dryer and was more desert climate. Hot during day and cool during nights.
My dad worked for the Maharaja of Baroda, and that was amazing life.
They wouldn't have to leave. The Republic Of Texas would have it's own medicare program that actually worked.
A good 10kW continuous power dual fuel generator would be about $1,500. And about $100 for a large propane tank to fill about 70% (to keep it from "freezing").
But I don't have to worry about that for now because Alabama isn't charging me the "solar fee" (because I don't export power to the grid) and because power here is pretty dependable. We're not one of the ones getting notices about blackouts this summer. Maybe later if many of the folks in my area switch to EV's without going solar too. But I don't see that happening here in MAGA country. I'm the only Trump voter in my area I know who has either solar or an EV (because I see them as an independence thing, not a save-the-world-from-cow-farts thing like Dim voters do).
1 Trillion dollars, enough money to make the energy system strong, stable and industrial strength for decades if not centuries. How many Nuclear power plants does $1Trillion get us? 1,000? Or maybe just 250 of them. That would be money well spent.
Yeah I’m sure the US govt will gladly send all the Medicare contributions those folks have made (that were dumped into the federal budget every year).
“...often forcing them to put off maintenance to keep cranking out electricity.”
Sounds like something right out of “Atlas Shrugged”. And we all know how that turned out.
Ther is no lock box. There is no fund. It has been pay-go well, forever. The Republic of Texas will collect federal taxes and distribute them. They would have a similar Medicare program but one run without corruption.
That is the right attitude, it is all about independence. Those things are not green. Look into EMP protection. Not that expensive, protects against lightning, solar flares and Electromagnetic Pulses.
It would also have the benefit of not having the mentality that for every tax dollar you take in, you spend two.
Have some whisky ideas on how to limit medical costs also, but there is a long road till we figure that out.
Real estate prices would moderate too, as the old folks departed.
They also make them for cars, don't nknow about EV's.
Your supposition that "old folk" would leave is wrong.
What is the reason for wanting the “old folk” to leave?
Just curious on the thought process.
An old society looks like Japan. A weak economy encumbered by pension and health costs.
So I assume they would want a younger demographic.
So do maintenance at night like at midnight instead of trying to do during the day.
Speaking as someone who lives in Houston, this has been the worst summer so far in a very long time.
I can imagine that was. I have very little connection to the culture or the country or its history. I did enjoy my trips there and still have people who were employees but now friends.
Hmm, maybe our power companies should have used that $50/mo. extra big freeze fee on something to improve the service instead of building gazebos and planting flowers at parks.
This heat is not anything unusual. In 2011, we had 100 days of 100 plus temps. In 1980, we hit 115 degress. So, what’s different these days. Oh, yeah, it’s all those illegals the demonrats are letting in to use up our - everything.
We sweated or sat in front of the fridge in nothing but a wet towel.
