Sorry, IMHO Barnette was a dis not ready for prime time. Her behavior immediately after the primary was done confirmed my suspicions.

Took him all of 10 minutes to drop every reference to Trump from his web site once he was declared winner.

Don’t know what site you’re referring to but I just went to Oz’s campaign site, clicked on endorsements, and there’s a pic of Trump with “Endorsed by Trump” and the following:

”"Dr. Oz is Pro-Life, very strong on Crime, the Border, Election Fraud, our Great Military, and our Vets, Tax Cuts, and will always fight for and support our under-siege Second Amendment. He will ensure America will become Energy Independent again. Dr. Oz also passionately believes in high-quality education and protecting parent involvement throughout the process. Perhaps most importantly, I believe that Mehmet Oz will be the one most able to win the General Election against a Radical Left Democrat looking to do unthinkable harm to our Country."
PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP

The time for electoral purity is the primary.

In mine, I madenitnandolid point to not vote for any incumbent because most did nothing to protect our rights during lockdown.

However in the general, it’s very unwise to play electoral purist. That’s when you vote party.

Do republicans suck? Absolutely but they suck less than democrats.

Pulling the trigger for Oz means you might get some stuff you want. Pulling for Barnette means one more chance for a hardcore thug socialist who will assure that you get nothing you want.

I’m not voting for a carpetbagging, dual citizen, Muslim.
Trump f’d up, not me.
All the PA FReepers that voted for Oz f’d up.
They thought we would just take it and vote for Oz in the general...not happening.

Oz won the border with NJ/Philly area... and was DECIMATED EVERYWHERE ELSE

Oz won the following counties: Adams, Bedford, Blair, *Bucks, Cambria, Cameron, Carbon, Clearfield, Fayette, Franklin, Greene, Lackawanna, Lawrence, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzerne, *Monroe, *Northampton, *Philadelphia, *Pike, Schuylkill, Wayne, York.

The five counties with asterisks border NJ. Two of those - Pike and Wayne - are rural counties. Of the remaining non-border counties, all but Lackawanna, Lehigh and York are rural counties.

Polls I've seen are a month old. We have no idea who is ahead and by how much.

“The time for electoral purity is the primary.”

This is true.

This is also the reason why the GOP establishment frantically tried to destroy the one viable conservative in the Senate race — and succeeded.

Oz, McCormick or Fetterman are all “wins” for the GOPe. Their worst (and only) nightmare was eliminated in May.

If anyone thinks Fetterman doesn’t belong on that list, looks at what little token effort (if any at all) the GOPe is putting into defeating Fetterman vs. how much effort they put into defeating Barnette.

Oz was supported by the establishment and Trump because he’s a celebrity with major name recognition (so what?), can fund his own campaign (then why does Fetterman have 5x Oz’ cash and 1000x the ads?) and was supposedly going to pull in the brain-dead suburban soccer mommy vote and the votes of other insane white women (wrong — he will lose the female vote handily) while still doing well with the conservative base of the party (wrong again).

But hey, at least he’s “electable”, or so we’ve been told time and again.

Fetterman, dirtbag doper and outright Nazi though he is, will pull more GOP votes than Oz will pull Democrat votes. And even if the crossovers merely break even, Oz still loses.

Trump just barely won PA (maybe twice) by appealing to certain factions of the Democrat party while holding most of the conservative base. Oz is going to underperform on both counts. The Republican establishment isn’t going to mourn the loss very much.

I think people get worked up over nothing. The average guy would love to drive a Lambo. But he can afford a Chevy Malibu, if he trades his jalopy in and spreads out the payment over 7 years. You get an election where millions of other people get a say, and the guy you vote for has got to check every box on your wish list, despite the fact that your investment in him is literally a split second on a touch screen? What the heck are these people thinking?

Welcome. Oz is not someone I thought would be running for office. Typical showbiz person/doctor isn’t particularly into abasing himself before the public, however friendly his public persona. Bill Frist, HCA chief, did a couple of terms in the Senate, including 4 years in McConnell’s role, then packed it in.

Specter, Toomey, Oz. The assistant Democrat tradition will continue. Hold you nose and vote for the foreigner, because he’s better than the garden nome. Fetterman is the bigger POS.
