They did plead guilty to stealing the diary. Even if they just “found” it, they realized who it belonged to and removed it. Then they tried to market it, first to President Trump’s campaign. No dice. So they offered it up to PV as simply found, and they brought it to PV, who paid them. So, this simple transaction is being called a conspiracy, and they were “persuaded” to plead guilty to that, too.
