Anybody remember the “odd & even” license plate number driving days?

My EV charges at home at a rate of over 35 miles for every hour charged (240V/40A).

That still doesn't help the Commifornians when they have scheduled blackouts. Nor does it help having solar users feeding to the grid. The power utilities there every now and then change the sine wave of the power on the grid so that home inverters trip and quit putting power onto the grid --- forcing people to buy expensive power that the utilities put onto the grid so they can justify their costs of green scam energy plants.

This is one of the reasons not to fall for the trap of putting power onto the grid (power buyback plans) if you decide to put solar onto your home to give you 1st world electricity in a 3rd world state like Commiefornia. They tell you it'll help you pay for your solar equipment -- then they charge you fees and force you to abide by regulations that reduce the power freedom you were seeking by going solar.

If you’re going to keep your EV in the garage, just be sure the battery really is empty. Because, you know.

They will simply program into the car when it is allowed to charge.

Correct. One of the functions of “smart” meters. And the dictate in CA that all new construction must be 100% electric.

Hey Sam, we’re all meeting up at the sports bar tonight, can you join us?

Aw man, wish I could but tonight I can charge my EV from 7 to 10.

"So what happens if everybody follows the instructions to cut usage 4 pm to 9 pm and sets their EV to charge at 10 pm or midnight? You are just pushing that enormous load out a few hours."

I agree with you 100%. And the push to get everybody to drive EV's will create the problem you describe.

I'm just saying not to make too much of them asking EV owners to charge after 9 PM because almost all EV owners are already doing that. It'd be like worrying about a Dim leader telling all the Dim voters to quit using math --- it's already happening.

And this is with a small fraction of the vehicles being electric. Can you imagine the situation if 50% are electric?

It's becoming ever more clear what the electric car scam is about and why the corrupt government is pushing it so hard.

We are still at the “Early Adopter” phase of EVs, it’s when it goes “Mainstream” the real trouble starts.

Just wait until everyone is forced to have an EV, there will be some kind of rationing, like you will only be allowed to charge your car during certain hours, and if the battery runs out before, tough titties!

The truly ironic thing is that everyone will probably have a gas-powered generator at home to charge their cars--until they outlaw those as well.

I worked for a car rental company during that time. Odd/Even days for fill ups. 10 gallon max. I spent all day waiting in gas lines to fill up the rentals. If we needed to gas up a car that had the wrong license plate, I would swap it out with another car that the right number for that day.

Good gawd that’s an ugly googley link. I don’t like being tracked.

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=lithium+mine+workers&iax=images&ia=images

duckduckgo isn’t perfect but anything’s better than google

Brave search is even better

https://search.brave.com/images?q=lithium%20mine%20workers

PreSearch isn’t bad either and is decentralized

https://presearch.com/images?q=lithium%20mine%20workers

Anything but google

Homeowners insurance companies in my state are beginning to drop homeowners that have roof mounted solar panels citing it compromises the integrity of the roof structure........even if I wanted to invest in solar panels (which I don’t) I doubt my insurance company would allow it.

That is a profound question. If we had any reasonable discourse in our mainstream media, that would be a HUGE discussion item.
