The real problem in the Catholic Church is The College of Cardinals. Mostly are leftists and a fair percentage homosexual. I do not know the true percentage. They elect The Pope and thus The Pope is a reflection the College of Cardinals. Oddly this happened in left wing seminaries worldwide. They trained them and thus their values. Oddly many of the dissenting voice are cardinals from Africa.
I did not leave the Catholic Church. It left me. I now attend bible lessons in a Baptist Church. Our church is totally controlled at the local level, and this is good.
I miss the pageantry, righteousness and glory of my old Catholic Church. It has become a political entity and no longer a church. If it reforms, I will return to it.

I forgot to add this. I am a Libertarian and do not care what homosexuals do. That is their life, their choice so long as it does not affect me, my children, and grandchildren. When they inject their politics into my family’s life I am not amused.

I feel sad for all Catholics that are expected to follow his word as if law.
There’s a heresy called Donatism which claims that if the priest (bishop, cardinal, pope) is flawed and a sinner then his performance of his office is invalid. For example, those priests and bishops who have been laicized because of their abuse of children. People worried whether they were really baptized or married or whatever. But in fact the cleric acts “in personum christi” and through the Holy Spirit. That does not for a minute condone his behavior or as with the Pope, his own heresy but it proclaims that the Church is the Church of Jesus and not the Church of Pope Francis. Just ignore Francis and go talk to your local pastor.
