It just doesn’t make sense Xi continues putting so many people in lockdown unless he has other reasons for doing so.

All I can think of is Hong Kong. So maybe he is reluctant to give up covid zero policy because of that.

The silver lining for the CCP in covid lockdowns: money. The real reason for the lockdowns.

Mandatory testing means lots of kits, kits are currently purchased using tax money, but could be moving to individual payments.

We have to understand that these tests are mandatory some times twice a day, mandatory to enter events, and there is no getting out of it.

QT codes are everything, Green is OK, Yellow is No Go, Red is wait in place until the police arrive. these code rule lives - you can do nothing not even enter your apartment with out a Green code.

Run away? There are over 500,000,000 surveillance cameras in China running facial recognition software.

Every one you talk to is known. If you are strolling through a park on a nice day and get a yellow code , you cannot leave the park - people have been trapped in open air parks for 40 days and counting.

Then there are the mountains of waste from the billions of tests, the swab, the plastic tab, the plastic tube etc.

But as it turns out, testing is now 1.3% of the Chinese economy, so more lockdowns, more money for the CCP.

Go to the 40.57 for the Foxconn debacle

Go to the 47.15 to see the thousands of people in Beijing waiting in line for their daily test.

Go to the 1.05.20 to see the 4 lane freeway lined, horizon to horizon, with four lines of trailer-like isolation structures for covid cases? No one knows what they are for yet.

Covid testing creates dissidents, not the other way around. Testing is a big money maker for the Party

No sorry it is not. There are huge areas, in many cities you never heard of, that look the same - When a block is locked down, it is fenced off - no one enters, no one leaves - for any reason, until their QR codes turn green.

It didn’t. That’s my point. It is an insidious man made bio-weapon. I was sicker than anything and it was NOT a cold. (And I am NOT getting another jab.)

With respect, I wish I could fully agree with your take. I do not. I see a world-spanning evil as some in virology have “toyed” with viruses, implicating the Chinese of course but also Fauci and the US bureaucracy, though my list is longer than that. Additionally, I see the injury and death from still experimental mRNA injections as of perhaps greater impact than the viral outbreak itself.

There is no question, however that the current lockdowns in China serve the Chinese Communist Party. What should not be ignored is the US and European "data" saying that China's three-year death toll is only something more than 15K in a population of well more than a billion. The data cannot be correct, and yet it is held forth by our "Western" experts as correct. Taking that at face value, China's strategies are "working." I don't think this is a medical statement, but wholly political and geopolitical. And in service to the corrupt, worldwide.

Do you accept that the mortality rate in China after three years is 0.0011 percent? Or that the US' deaths are four times the three year mortality rate data of the world in general? I don't/ But I highlight the data because more than just Chinese Communists are lying to us. And far more than just Chinese Communists are accepting the lies, and amplifying them. In your words, "as an opportunity to tighten their grip on their citizens." Here. There. Everywhere.

So many end message with "stay safe." I so prefer -- Stay free! God bless.

--- "...until their QR codes turn green."

An excellent observation, which could be expanded. That one must have a device with such an interactive QR code is, without question, the surveillance state in full swing.

The same is being tried out in Europe as in Canada, and has been floated several times here in the US. I expect enough will push back in the West, and especially here in the states, that this will not become universal. But that is the game.

My QR code will not turn green, because I will not have such an app on a smartphone. Period. The now-Borg famous "resistance is futile" is a fiction, for resistance is never futile. Unless one "believes...."

This is why the "media" is working so hard to have us "believe."

Stay free and your QR code will also not be a problem.... Regards.

It can be argued that the lockdowns will kill off the small businesses that defy the CCP concept of government control of all business.

As far back as 2021, there were reports of zealous regional CCP apparatchiks warring on small businesses and Entrepreneural freedom. The reports from a city I have disremembered indicated that street vendors an push cart businesses were assaulted by the CCP zealots.

Having just recently gained the absolute power to control and deposing on TV those in opposition, Xi is implementing the destruction of all business not under CCP domination.

Perkins and Coie in China is not long for this world.

For at least the next year, the people of China are going to feel the boot of CCP oppression on a grand scale

My QR code will not turn green, because I will not have such an app on a smartphone. Period.

Unfortunately, the only way to make QR codes workable is to follow the Chinese example & make carrying a cell phone mandatory at all times and not doing so punishable by beatings, fines, jail time, and disappearances.

Also turning off the cell phone is punishable. Which is counter indicated, because you cannot do anything, cannot leave your home, cannot a drive your car, cannot enter a store, cannot buy anything, without a Green QR code & there is literally nothing you can do. Your life is ruled by the color of the code.

Its coming, maybe not this year or next, but it will come ... China has too much money invested in US politicians, companies, & institutions.

--- "Its coming, maybe not this year or next, but it will come ... China has too much money invested in US politicians, companies, & institutions."

With respect, I disagree. I foresee unintended consequences aplenty, though being 'unintended' I can't be more specific....

...except to observe that there are many versions of the "lying down" phenomenon in China (which the CCP is worried about) to the various "walkaway" phenomena here as in Europe. But the largest seems quite unorganized, as one watches people "migrate" from companies and products and fungible investor cash moving about, such that the tech industry's oligarchs have "lost" quite a bit of what was seen as "won." Additionally, as recession and perhaps worse bites, spending will go different directions including down. To think we live in a world without daily flux is the snake oil salesman's stock and trade. "Take this and everything will be better" is so often schtick and schlock.

YouTube, once king of the hill, has many competitors now. Search engine options are easily available as are browsers, and open source software is eating away at such as Microsoft, once a titan. I think simple ingenuity and competition will prevail in many areas. So that "too much money invested in US politicians, companies, & institutions" might be just some investments which look good -- until they aren't. FTX, anyone? Enron? Solyndra? Afghanistan, Obama's "winnable" war? California's "budget surplus" now a deficit overnight? The EU quaking, as its little bureaucrats stamp their feet when they don't get their way (and aren't)? Lots of reasons to be optimistic, as the faux-Borg try to convince us that "resistance is futile." Best wishes.

Lying down movement has been crushed, as will the “fight back” movement. None of those movements are stopping or slowing down the CCP and the closing off of China.

These are assertions, not something borne out in reports from any factional media which I have read. Have you a source for the "lying down movement" being "crushed?"

If your message is correct, you are a "resistance is futile" cog in the larger machine. I suspect you are not. Not really. Not if you are a conservative.

I do have a source but I don’t remember which episode it came from

Check out the more recent episodes - both are fluent Mandarin speakers, lived in, ran businesses, married, raised kids, before being driven out at the risk of their lives.

These two in their three video messages do not convince me that "Lying down movement has been crushed, as will the “fight back” movement."

Matthew Tye says, "I lived in China for 10 years, and watched it change from an opening and liberalizing society into regression and authoritarianism. This channel explains China, Chinese culture, Chinese politics, and decodes Chinese propaganda so that you are armed with the knowledge to identify it."

Here's a WIKI on him, if you are interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Tye

Armed with the knowledge to identify it am I, I think. And for this I will not conclude that any "resistance is futile."

In the moment I am reading "Thought Reform and the Psychology of Totalism, a Study of "Brainwashing" in China," by Robert Jay Lifton, Gollancz, 1962. In his preface he writes, "It is in fact one of the tragedies of the cold war that moral criticism of either side is immediately exploited by the other side in an exaggerated, one-dimensional fashion," Lifton like John Dewey here early in the last century believed in the "new man," I don't. I believe that the new man is the same as the old man, in the amusing expression of "meet the new boss, same as the old." The Who's clever lyric contains the notion of not being "fooled again."

The videos you reference are not a be-all-end-all for me. I suspect that it is not clear not likely wholly correct that "Lying down movement has been crushed, as will the 'fight back' movement." And as a fan of the Revolutionary War documents, I will echo in other words, resistance is never futile. "Armed with the knowledge to identify it," liberty will out, in many ways, I believe.

I said look through their episodes, not just their home pages.

Oh just believe what you want even though there is ample evidence to the contrary.

Everyone knows that wiki pages can be edited by anyone.

“resistance is futile” is your line, not mine.

And I guess you just refuse to accept how totalitarian, how draconian China under Xi has become.
