Wonder if that ever happened to young Robert Byrd.
Huh? Judges pose hypotheticals all the time to tease out the outlet limits of arguments that are presented to them
Exactly. That’s the problem.
Exactly, Codeflier. ALito wasn’t making a joke at all. Law school is replete with hypothetical scenarios (at least the good ones). The more extreme the better to frame the ultimate question.
Alito was doing his job. The leftist media, of course, are doing theirs, too, which is to push commie talking points 24/7.
Id like to see that picture. We need that kind of satire these days.
A lot like yesterday’s Gorsuch “Re-education “ question about the issue of hay wedding cakes plaguing our nation.
And it’s outside the scope of the legal matter at hand.
Dem/MSM calls for resignations in 3...2...1.
Under fire from whom- the media trying to build a narrative? I heard the comment. It was not meant as a joke but presented as a question of the limits that a retailer can refuse to serve you such as someone with a child dressed as KKK with a mother insisting a black santa allow him to sit on his lap. It would violate his belief system just as a Christian baker refusing to bake a cake for a gay wedding.
I’ve made a similar argument - does a black photographer have the right to refuse to photograph a Klan rally?

(Desperately and predictively) queuing the faux-outrage, mockingbird mass-media, message generator.
Liberals and crazy... dangerous... and will weaponize any statement or joke for their advantage among the liberal sheep.
It looks like we're about to have a similar brouhaha about Alito.
This is nothing new, Remember when Reagan joked about boming the Soviets in 5 mins? People lost their mind...but Reagan never flinched on that one IIRC.
A guy who does financial hedging for a living, said the best way to totally hedge a bond or stock, is to sell it. Similarly, the best way to avoid pregnancy, is abstinence.
As long as people speak, own assets, or fornicate, we will have these brouhahas. Maybe the best course of action on the former, is to ignore the whiners.
I don’t think it was a joke. People should have a right to refuse taking part in objectionable activities.
Why would it be offensive to ask if a black person can refuse to pose with the KKK?
This is case is just leftist trolling. Also, the right question is not even being asked. Did the business owner refuse service to a gay couple? Nope. She’d sell them anything she’d sell to anyone else. Hence no discrimination. This is entirely different from forcing her to provide a service she does not provide to anyone.
Seems like a thought experiment in considering legal matters. Why would that be “under fire”?
Would any reasonable person demand a Black owned bakery do business with White supremacists? Or a Jewish owned bakery make a cake for neo nazis? Never mind, the key word is REASONABLE, something that does not compute with libs
It’s barely a joke. It’s legitimate question. Could a Jewish bakery refuse to make a happy birthday Hitler cake ?
