"fees from online platforms, such as Facebook and Google,
who derive ad revenue from the hard work of newsrooms."
That's what makes me think FR would be exempt. Does FR get ad revenue? But I've been wrong before so I'm not 100% on this!

aything big media is pushing to protect, is anathema to every singl bblogger, vlogger, and freelance writer. it will tear down the copyright of the originator, and hand that over to newshouses.

But I have zero faith in any new legislation in this area.

Yes, it reminds me of the slippery slope regarding gay marriage. First they said they just wanted to be left alone in their bedrooms. But obviously now we see their goals were much loftier than that. Probably the same with this issue.

who derive ad revenue from the hard work of newsrooms — mostly small, local, community-rooted operations — across the country."community-rooted" like AP, UPI, AFP, etc. /s
Little more than putting the regime controlled MSM on the regime payroll by taxing Facebook and Google.

Who gave the government the right to decide who is and isn’t a journalist?

“from the hard work of newsrooms”
It’s a helluva job regurgitating the latest talking points fax from the DNC.

Does it work both directions. Say CBS points to a twitter or FB post in its news story. Shouldn’t CBS have to pay for the content? Shouldn't the 'news' orgs have to pay sites like FR ant Twitter that link to their 'stories'?
