It will be a good and eventful Republican primary season. May the best person win!

I think the age issue is going to be significant for a lot of folks. Trump will be 78 in 2024, and my mom - who is 89 herself - says that is too old. Many people won’t feel that way, but I think a lot will.

There are tons of Americans, including many business owners, who are very conservative, love DeSantis, and have nothing to do with the Deep State, which is a wildly misused/missaplied term anyway.

“DeSantis is a superb leader but he is NOT financially independent.”

And our greatest conservative. If he runs he needs our support.

This jumped out at me too:

He said that the lack of organized effort to support Trump and his 2024 campaign at such a massive event is telling that the former president has "become the entertainer who never updated his act and become a bore."

I think that is true to some extent with almost anyone who has been the center of attention for a long time. It's one reason why even very good coaches may have to move on from a team because the players just stop listening. Unfortunately for Trump, it may feel to many people like he's had two terms because since 2020, he's been in the news almost as much as a president would be.

Everyone is susceptible to the "your act is getting old" factor. It's like a rock band years after its prime. The die hard fans will still show up for any concert, but the records just don't sell like they used to among the population as a whole.

I don't know if Trump is at that point or not, and this isn't a slam on him in particular. But it may be a factor for him just like it is for many others.

That, plus let me know when there are pickup trucks and boats flying DeSantis flags flapping all along the way.

It’s an how to book (Clue for the Clueless: “The Art of the Deal”) not an autobiography.

I’m more than willing to listen to DeSantis if he has any platform to run on.

"The fact that a previously elected president, head of the party with universal name ID is having any trouble solidifying enthusiastic support [from] the GOP faithful is a massive blinking warning sign," Republican strategist Alex Patton told Newsweek. "No one is just given the nomination. The former President is gonna have to work for it if he wants to win."

I don't think it's that surprising. Former Presidents are 1 for 7 in Presidential elections historically. Not only is Cleveland is only former President to be elected again to a non-consecutive term.

The losers are Van Buren (twice), Fillmore, Grant, Roosevelt, and Hoover. Other than Fillmore, who was the Know Nothing candidate in 1856 but was endorsed by the moribund Whig party convention, none of the losers even managed to win his former party's nomination.

If Trump manages win the GOP nomination (let alone be elected), he would be the historical exception, not the norm. Of course, that would hardly be the first time for him.

LOL!

Trump, NOT Trumpism, started losing me when he:

Took advice on appointments from Ms. Lindsey Graham
Gave an interview to Bob Woodward
Talks to the NY Times
Went on 60 Minutes
Droned on and on every day on COVID

His blind spot is he thinks he can win over EVERYONE and ANYONE.
