If I wasn't so lazy I'd do some analysis of these figures. But NYC has a polulation of about 8 million. Don't know about Cook County,LA County or Harris County.But it's certainly true that if you avoid certain relatively small areas in this country your odds of being murdered are very small indeed.
83% of the counties in the US are republican. I bet every one of those zip codes that are in the 17% of the counties that are democrat.

13% of the population and yet, on the are occurance that I step into a courtroom, I stand out in a sea of black like a speck of rat shit in a bag of rice. If you watch any of the TV court shows, Judge Millian for instance or judge judy, the defendant and the person suing, are most times black.
I live 25 miles from the Triangle at Pittsburgh, and while the downtown area is relatively safe, I never travel there without at least two guns, the car gun is a S&W 357 Magnum.
There isn't much random day light shooting, {I'm outta there by dark as I frequent bars/restaurants near my home} so I feel fairly comfortable in the down town area.
There are several known locations that I won't even drive through, day or night, Homewood, and the Hill just to mention a few.
In Center City Philly, there isn't any place that is safe, day or night, and you couldn't pay me to go there.

A man I worked with was raised in Shreveport LA. He said blacks were no different than everyone else as he was raised around them.
Then he moved to our almost lily white section of the country.
After a few years he took a vacation back to his home with his new bride, and after some altercations in town, upon returning to this area he privately told me...”Man! ‘They(the blacks)’ really ARE different!”
I remember, maybe 30 years ago, when the news media found a Southern state with no blacks in one county. They ran with the news story for days hyping the fact no blacks lived in that county!
I thought that now there will be trouble makers and protest marches going through that county and it happened just like clockwork.

Exactly! My county had it’s first murder in about 10 years.
Subtract about a half dozen zip codes and America has very little crime.
Several solutions are obvious but I will save my breath.
