I’m smelling a rat, although it might just be anecdotal. I was a member of Spotify and I paid a monthly fee through my debit card. I had to replace the card and I logged in to Spotify to update my payment information. The site wouldn’t accept my new information, nor would it accept a credit card. I quit and I gave them as a reason that I wasn’t quitting voluntarily, but because their site wouldn’t accept my new payment information. So, maybe it was just me, but if it is happening to numerous people, it could explain either a conscious effort to lose members to show a profit loss on paper, or it could be just plain incompetence.
