Well, I Do Care. It is very revealing hearing crickets from him on the 2020 election... deSantis acquiesces to 81,000,000 Joe-ey votes.

“I’m guessing you were a Cruz type”

No not all. I voted for Trump both elections, enthusiastically. 2016 primaries too.

But I think Desantis has done a good job as governor of my state. He certainly isn’t governing like a Rubio, Cruz, Nikki Haley establishment GOPe establishment politician.

Now, Trump is correct in a sense: Desantis DID close down Florida, to a degree. For about a month. But by May 2020 he was opening Florida up quickly and taking A LOT of heat for it. While other governors were still doing the mask mandates and other nonsense. Desantis was ahead of all the other governors on covid sanity.

Meanwhile… Trump kept the entire country shut down for months. Remember “15 days to flatten the curve”? “We’ll be open by Easter”? That was Trump! And he has the gall to say “shutdown Ron”?

Trump can’t rewrite history. We remember. He got played by Fauci (who he affectionately referred to as “Tony” and praised for months in 2020- cringe) et al - and Trump’s mishandling of covid - by not governing more like desantis- helped cost him the election.

I voted for Trump 2X and glad I did it. But he made a lot of grave errors as President example did not “drain the swamp”, “lock her up”, or fire Fauci etc when he should have. He surrounded himself with backstabbers and weirdos (Bolten? Scaramucci?).

Also I think Trump is too old- look what 80 years looks like on his “successor”. America needs someone sharp and on their game, and I think Trump’s recent tone deafness and frankly lies about Desantis suggest that he has already lost a step.

“Do you mean that? Or, did you forget to add a ‘not’ after ‘probably’?

Thanks for catching that. My sleep aid is kicking in. I meant not.

I’d bet on it.

Trump is rightly attacking the Establishment that’s attempting to thwart his 2024 run. Plain as day, and surprisingly over the heads of so many indignant FReepers.

The real embarrassment are the reactionary FReepers unable to endure the same type of primary campaign trolling of 2016. Sound like a bunch of whiny-ass Democrats. That’s right, whiny-ass Rats

In the next couple decades the current Social Security tax rate will cover about two-thirds of the anticipated payouts. Either the benefits will have to be cut, the taxes increased or the non-SS part of the budget raided to pay for Social Security.

And Medicare is in even worse financial trouble.

Whatever you think the state of government bennies is... it's worse.

There's already a parade of "long covid" disability claims that will upend the disability portion of social security, and it's just starting. Inflation-related COLA adjustments are seriously blowing up the expected runout dates for the trust fund.

But we're a wealthy country and have plenty of resources. What we don't have is people in charge who are willing to do something simple like not throw 100 billion dollars at a country to fight a stupid proxy war. We don't have people in charge who are willing to start nixing defense contracts and reduce the size of our defense expenditures. We don't have anyone in charge willing to cut the size of government and the amount of money it spends at all, much less anyone willing to cut the size and cost of government down to something even moderately meaningful, like whatever it was at the end of the Clinton administration.

Trump got elected on "drain the swamp" and "lock her up" and when he got elected... he wouldn't prosecute Hillary.

It’s too bad that Trump missed out on the most important documents, Obama’s financial aid records for college. A baby doesn’t get to choose where it’s born, but an adult who claims to be a foreign citizen in order to get foreign aid, now that might’ve given us a different outcome. However, that would’ve meant Hillary as the D-candidate.

I agree about illegals given SS.
How about them 15-20 million senior LEGAL immigrants who are getting supplemental SS? They never paid a dime in SS Taxes.

But what has that got to do about Mr Sanctimonious who will owe to his rich donors?

Are you a newbie to politics? This is primary season!
COME ON MAN! Why waste time on Brandon if you are going to be defeated in primaries? There is plenty time to attack the Democrat after nomimation.

‘“As long as she meets the standards of legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, which we understand that she does, Jenna Talackova is free to compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada pageant,” said Michael Cohen, special counsel to Trump and executive vice president of his business group.’

‘But the main attraction, obviously, was Trump. He received a standing ovation after delivering an enthusiastic affirmation of gay rights not often heard in the GOP.

“We are fighting for the gay community, and we are fighting and fighting hard,” the former president and 2024 candidate said. “With the help of many of the people here tonight in recent years, our movement has taken incredible strides, the strides you’ve made here is incredible.”

Throughout the evening, speakers praised Trump for his embrace of the gay community. They credited him for his initiatives to combat the criminalization of homosexuality, his work pushing for public heath initiatives to combat the HIV epidemic, and for appointing the first openly gay Cabinet member, Grenell, as director of national intelligence.’

What was that about Gov. DeSantis and support from the “Lincoln Pervert Project”, Mr. President?

Well, I Do Care. It is very revealing hearing crickets from him on the 2020 election...

That's nice. But the voters don't.

Trump made the 2022 midterms about himself. About his election loss. Instead of focusing on crime, inflation, migrants, or tranny madness, Trump focused on Trump.

Democrats cheated again in 2022. But the fact that most Republican and Independent voters were getting tired of hearing about Trump's 2020 loss didn't help.
