The founders kinda messed up wit that well-regulated militia stuff. The second part about the rights of the people to keep and bear arms was all that was needed, not some "because of this" preable to explain why they thought it was important. They didn't do that for other ammendments, the first doesnt say 'because debate is important to people, the state shall not regulate speech', they just got to the point.
The left has seized on that preamle part over and over and over and all it takes is one bad SCOTUS ruling and boom, amendment deleted.

Right after the Const was approved many states mandated (kinda like Switzerland) that every citizen must have a firearm — so that they can be called up into a militia.
