I consider the citizens of China to suffer something akin to
a mass body of “beaten wife syndrome” type people, at the
hands of the Chinese government.
They’ve been fed the ugly American story so long, I’m not
sure what they think of us. I note that a lot of the wealthy
Asians think of it as a real perk to attend US universities.
Not sure if the Chinese buy into that, but I believe it is
a shared aspiration to a certain extent. Would feel better
if someone who knows more about this dynamic to chime in
to get verification or even a denial that it is true.
I added that in to be sure folks take it with a grain of
salt, the US University attendance desire.
