Any thinking adult should have two weeks of essentials on hand at all times. Two months is even better.

They do but I don’t see how.
During these last 3 years or so the population has gotten about every wake-up call that could be given in why being prepared for blackouts, no heat in winter, food shortages, toilet paper, cleaning products, and shortages in about every field there is, is not only possible but has been recently demonstrated in reality.
