DeSantis would elevate himself tremendously in my book if he came out with this simple statement — word for word …

“Any person who is gainfully employed in New York should get the hell out of that Democratic sh!t-hole and move to Florida where you won’t have to worry about a mutant prosecutor throwing you in jail for no damn reason at all.”

THE END

Yep...this is political gold imo.

Either it gets resolved with him being elected POTUS, where he cleans house, or he goes to jail and THE PEOPLE clean house.

Either way, there’s a lot of cleaning to be done.

These people are DUMB.

Father God, we plead for your protection of our now-corrupted legal system where rogue prosecutors twist the law to target political opponents to derail honest elections. Please protect our Republic from this sick cabal of crazed hate-filled conspirators who have turned us into a third world country. In the name of all that’s holy, we pray, protect Donald Trump. It’s been going on too long, Lord. Persecution by trying to bankrupt honest Republican politicians and driving them out of the game. Amen.

I worry about his safety in NYC and that this is a set up. I’m thinking Jack Ruby. I’m really hoping nothing happens.

for now every R that stands by DJT gets a star - because they rarely line up together. this isn’t about 2024 as much as it is about pushing back on political persecutions/prosecutions and election interference.

Agree, except the part about getting a star for it. No star for that, but any R who doesn't should be dead to us. No votes, no positive mentions, spit in their eye if we ever meet them and definitely no contributions to them of any kind.

But as for standing by Trump against Bragg, that is merely table stakes in this game. No extra credit for that.

What is their end game in this—they think Biden can beat Trump?

If they really thought that Trump wasn’t a political threat—they wouldn’t waste any time even talking about him let alone indicting/arresting him.

Well, you of course can look at the situation the way you like.

For me, though, if one of my state officials gets into a spat with a state official in another state, I hardly see that eventuating into a “Civil War.”

Your mileage varies, and that’s okay. Have a good evening.

Florida should declare itself a sanctuary state. A sanctuary from New York laws

C’mon, man, this is a slam-dunk easy for DeSanctimonius. He knows damn well Trump would roll up on his own.

Trump need to demand a quick and speedy trial. None of this BS about having the trial once election season starts. He needs to demand that it start NOW or fagedaboutit!

I like Ron. I just don’t think its his time because it seems so obvious that Trump will walk away with the primary.

His supporters do cause me some concern (Paul Ryan?) and I have been pretty frank about that, but I think some of that support is because he is not “Trump”. I do think he is much more his “own man” than most GOP types and I respect him for that. I also like that he can be chippy and call BS on stuff.

He has done a good job in Florida, but he has a really good legislature to work with and everything is easier when you have a good legislature.

Right now, I think Ron is probably the future of the GOP.

However, one thing I am certain about is that it does not help any of us (or them) for him and Trump to get in some kind of media fueled fight in the mud. Trump will be Trump and as much as I hate it we won’t change it. It is miserable at times.

If Ron climbs into the mud with Trump he will end his future political career because MAGA holds a grudge and nobody can roll in the mud better than Trump. Nobody. That might not be fair, but it is real.

If Ron stays above it he will elevate his own stature for the future regardless of Trump’s antics and he could cement his future quite easily if he ignores those who view him as the best hope against Trump.

OTOH -

If Trump alienates DeSantis supporters (he probably would) he cripples his chances of winning in the general because there is no margin for error assuming we can run a cleaner election (it won’t be the Covid 20 again even if there are still lots of problems).

It is obvious that this is and will be a pretty heated fight here on FR and nationally (if Ron declares), but neither side will really “win” anything other than some kind of meaningless smug victory while we endure another 4 years of destruction and DeSantis has the same problem as Trump - if he loses a few percentage points of the base in a failed effort he will not win a national election.

That is my .02 and I hope DeSantis sees it the same. He has a LOT of people I don’t like right now talking him up and regardless of how fair it might be, the MAGA base is NOT the GOP base, but he cannot win in the future without them.

There is no upside for DeSantis to remain in the conversation and the people starting PAC’s for him now are NOT our friends. It’s a bad look and he is losing his chance to elevate his national future the longer it drags out.

It also makes Trump look bad, but that’s Trump and you take the cringe for the win or you stay at home and complain about 4 more years of this. We are not past the point of no return (reconciliation) yet, but the current mudslinging is nothing compared to what it will be.

I hope DeSantis makes the good choice for his future and ours AND I hope he maintains some distance between himself and the Paul Ryan wing.

***********

I don’t know their endgame at this chapter in our history. They might not even think in terms of endgame....period, it might be a “continuation.”

My prediction for 2024 is an outlier on Free Republic:

“I think they’ll rig it in Trump’s favor.”

Sadly, if President Trump were to, god forbid, be assassinated by a nutcase, the DeSantis cultists would cheer and celebrate. They are just as bad as libtards.

The DeSantis cult members are proudly displaying their loyalty to Soros and the Demonrats.

And I think it’s even more than that. There’s only one more place to go after this.

If, God forbid, they get him, only one thing stops them. We ain’t ready for that.
