Honest question here… why would anyone want to carry open? In my way of thinking, better to keep others guessing. if I was a bad guy, I’d know who to take out first. I figure I must be missing something.
especitally when you live someplace that tens to be a few degress warmer than hell more than half the year and light clothes are the norm
Open carry and the relaxation of rules here in TX has been a major relief to not have to worry about printing or shirt riding up over grip when I move around

The best Governor in country. That may be a somewhat low bar but it is fact. If even a majority of the states had such a Governor we would not be in this mess. Instead the others are Pence clones.

There’s two thoughts on that.....yours that it’s better to conceal so no one knows so there woukd be the elementof surprise, the other belief is open carry would be a deterant because bad guys would think twice knowing your armed........personally I’d rather not advertise......but everybody’s different.
Uh, it’s not really okay for LE to to walk the streets “gun-in-hand”.

When researching ARs before I bought mine I watched many videos on YouTube........wow. Some of those guys need to tone it down a little.....been watching too many Rambo movies. SMH
Well, next time there’s a nutjob school shooter I hope LE rush toward the school guns-in-hand, i.e. ready to shoot. Ditto arming more teachers if all of them were sane - which isn’t a given.

Take off the magazine before you attempt to put it down your pants leg. Also, wear 3XL sweatpants and that should do it! :-)
I’m not saying there’s cause for worry with open carry, but I prefer concealed for obvious reasons. The purpose of carrying a firearm is not to let everyone know you’re carrying a firearm. It’s to protect yourself and your family, and perhaps to protect other people as well. Carrying an AR to go shopping only brings undue attention, and it’s not a great weapon for 7-10 feet (which is the average distance in a gun fight). I carry a concealed pistol wherever I go, but obviously others may not be able to do so because some States do not allow it.
Then you can choose to carry concealed and only carry concealed.
And there is still no justifiable reason for anyone to be denied the right to open carry.
If it bothers you or anyone else seeing me open carry then that’s a you-problem and not a me-problem.

Gun-in-hand MAY be interpreted as “brandishing” which is illegal here.
And that’s fine. You see open carrying an AR-15 as an expression of someone’s right to do so. I see it as tactically silly, especially if it’s strapped to your back. Open carry of a pistol is great, if that’s your only option. If your only option to arm yourself in public is open carry of an AR-style rifle, you may want to think about moving to a better State because the one you’re in sucks.
Georgia did it awhile ago.. Florida is catching up, just like opened up after Georgia on covid.

Definite need to discourage that imo. Is killing an adult “brandisher” a crime? I wouldn’t think so.
