“What does “open carry” mean in regards to pistols? Holstered pistols? Surely it’s not okay for non-LE to walk the streets gun-in-hand anywhere.”

Um, it has been for many decades. Why would it be OK for LE to do that but no one else?

I would prefer to pick my own candidate. Dr Oz was not my favorite in PA, nor was Mastriano and both were hand picked candidates. I can tell you for a fact Mastriano did nothing to help himself win the election. He had money but did not spend it for ads. Why? Even many in GOP state leadership said Mastriano did nothing to help himself. So now we have a Fetterman and Shapiro. I’ll will never again go against my gut feeling and vote based in whims of others to pick my politics.

As a strong believer in 2A and freedom I can see where open carry kind of has its potential upside. But it creates anxiety in people especially with certain weapons. Concealed provides protection without the potential of being shot by a bad guy before you know it is a bad guy. I would prefer concealed. I guess in the end it is a personal preference thing. Most importantly in a country where crime seems more prevalent every law abiding American needs the right of self defense.

I agree, it should be legal but it’s vulgar to do so. I think it falls loosely into the good manners category.

Ahh the good ole open vs concealed debate.

Personally I see pros and cons of both... thus I side on freedom to choose for yourself.

Open pros often not discussed... that bad guy sees the area he is casing to rob/steal/etc is not as easy a target as he hoped and bad guy decides to hit a different target. To dismiss this advantage of open carry is to deny the latest trans school shooter didn’t choose the easier target due to that very fact.

Open carry can often be easier to quickly draw when needed.

Do I choose to open carry, no. I am too old and slow for it to work best with my style. My son on the other hand likes open carry... and I pray it serves him well.

Open carry can also be easier to access you weapon and more comfortable... There is pros and cons of both styles... I also prefer concealed carry, but my son the opposite carry manner. He is young and agile, I am old and prefer stealth.

Freedom !

Agree that open carry of a long gun in stores is sorta asking for trouble and counterproductive.

I’m glad Georgia did it a while ago. The sooner, the better.

Don’t be an ass. I’m just saying it’s a choice and no one else’s business if someone wants to open carry or carry concealed.

Either is a fundamental right.

If you walk into Walmart with an AR strapped to your back, you're an absolute moron. IMHO, of course.

It wouldn't bother me any. Unfortunately, many other customers would p*ss their pants in fear. Sad.

I work less than a half mile from the Florida cap building. People need to remember one thing. Republicans have a super majority. There isnt any way a Dem could block anything. Open carry is a little too controversial given Parkland and some other things that have happened. People who did not support open carry are not necessarily Rinos, but if it floats your boat to call them such, go ahead. It of course does nothing for shortening the 3 day waiting period or reciprocity.

"Either is a fundamental right."

Then how can it be illegal in some States?

Are you seriously arguing for gun control?

Thought I’d seen it all, but apparently if Desantis is even for concealed carry then naysayers are gonna bash guns too.

You really read a lot into people’s comments. Earlier I literally said if you live in a State that doesn’t allow concealed carry, then your State sucks and you should move. Does that sound like I want gun control???

I live in Wyoming where no one gets in anyone else’s business.

You, for whatever reason, support restrictions on open carry. That’s called ‘gun control’ just in case you missed that memo.
