Fingerprint readers have problems with sweaty finger tips, yet in a time a stress, you are going to have sweaty finger tips. That’s a problem. Do they have a solution?

a second is a long time. a perp with a knife fan easly cover 20 to 30 feet in that time. demonstrated by a swat team leader. buy one of these guns and cosider yourself one ofvthe walking dead.

I know that in at least one blue state, the cops got a cutout on the law that will mandate these guns.
Ian McCollum did a review of this Smart Gun on Forgotten Weapons, just this morning. He gave it a positive review. Kinda surprised me. He claimed the developers were aiming for only one segment of the market, not a ‘one size fits all’.

Can the fingerprint system be defeated? Answer - very likely, so it’s really only effective for honest gun owners.
What’s the bottom line? A Backdoor extreme tax on gun purchases - around $1000. A clever way to weaken the Second Amendment protections.
What a boatload of bullshit. Yes, only the authorized can fire the weapon. Anything digital can be manipulated by the state. And if they don’t want anyone to fire the gun except cops or government people, that’s what it will be.
...and trigger etiquette will be a thing of the past. Some things should not be biometric. Self defense is one! Way too easy to hack, spy and so forth.

I am guessing the average non shooter’s night stand gun is bought, brought to the range ONCE, fired. Put into a drawer and NEVER thought about again. What are the odds that bettery gets changed as required?
The sensor, will need to be 100% clear or ANY dust, dirt, lint.
The hands must be clean (dry?)
The user, under stress, will need to make sure that the finger is in EXACTLY the correct position to unlock.
Does this need to be unlocked for every shot?

A gun needs to be 1000% reliable at all times.
Can the Maker be sued or held liable, if the gun fails to fire? and the owner is injured or killed?
