In fact, the association forced by activists highlights one of the old anti-gay stereotypes that gay men really just want to be women. Adding T to LGB is truly offensive to that community. It’s done to make the T group bigger to give it more influence and financial resources. + arguably makes more sense because overwhelmingly the HIV+ are already members of LGB, and statistically LGB are more at risk but it also stereotypes LGB as HIV carriers when the disease isn’t exclusive.
There’s tension in the LGB community about + and + know there’s partner choice discrimination in the community. However + activists fighting to decriminalize knowingly and deceptively infecting another person doesn’t help the disdain and suspicion of + members of the community. It encourages creating more + and is disrespectful of these sexual assault victims who will have to manage their disease for the rest of their lives. The Leftist enablers and decriminalization activists are encouraging evil under the pretense of furthering acceptance. They are wrong.
T is also NOT drag or crossdressing. Drag is a theatrical character performance. Crossdressing is a fetish.
A man who transitions to live as a woman but chooses male partners would not identify as gay. Conversely, a woman who transitions to live as a man and chooses female partners would not identify as lesbian. So why is T grouped in other than to hitch a ride with the visibility of LGB social acceptance?
This is about Dylan and not the transgender issue. Dylan is a stage actor playing a character that demeans biological women, their lived experiences and progress over the past century. Dylan is a terrible choice as a (even transgender) spokesperson for beer or women’s products. I suspect lesbian soccer stars Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris, transgender Kaitlyn Jenner or even drag royalty RuPaul would not get the same reaction as Dylan.
Do we really believe the popularity of this character on social media would translate into a net increase in beer sales? How did they reach this conclusion? It smells like a rogue effort by an activist and fan of Dylan rather than something done for the brand.
It’s on sale at my local grocery stores, and no one’s touching it. I expect soon they have a BOGO for it, and maybe then someone will buy it. Not me, but maybe some desperate person who hated giving it up.
