Exactly. We keep a brush in the sink to scrub the gunk/food/residue off the dishes. Essentially, we use the dishwasher, NOT to actually wash, but to sanitize the dishes with hot water rinses.

That’s exactly all they can do. Sanitize. They discolor glassware over time, too. Anything I really care about doesn’t go in the DW. We handwash most items.

The EPA has already screwed up washers and dryers. I do everything on a deep water wash cycle to get enough water to have a prayer of properly cleaning clothes.
It is long past time to significantly downsize the EPA and get them out of over-regulating every consumer product in sight.
They took phosphates out of dishwasher soap a while back cause it make plants grow. You can buy it as a cleaner at some of the big box stores. Add an ounce to the dishwasher and the dishes will be clean again.
Same here. And to save water, a full dishwasher cycle runs for almost three hours.
Be sure to get the right stuff. I almost bought some phosphate-free trisodium phosphate.
Reminds me of the reports of limitations on how much
electricicty toasters can use,IIRC, in the UK. Of course, the toasters don’t meet peoples preferences for how well toasted their bread is. So, people run their bread through two cycles with a net result of using more electricity.

Hey, I’m a dishwasher; I wash my dishes by hand every day. I even put them away! If The O-Xiden Regime wants to send a droid to wash my dishes I’m all for it. But if it tries to switch my channel from funny cat videos to Fauxi News I’ll beat it with an oilfield pipe wrench.
