US drones are typically high flying, very long ranged devices designed for a very different mission. Russian battlefield jamming systems wouldn’t have the range (inverse square law) to bother these.
They are about the price of a 155mm shell.
Ukraine is firing way more than 14 of those per hour.
Thousands a day.
Drones are a consumable, like ammo.
That was Milley.
That Ghost of Kiev was quite the whopper too.
Some. But let’s say Amazon.
This seems to be typical of the drones in use -
They are talking about cheap commercial drones here. Both sides get those drones from China. Pentagon is sending them old junk, mostly.
“Everything they told Americans about this war has been a lie.”
Yep, the difference between us and Russia is that Russia PREPARED for this war, while the Leftists running the US these days figured that Reagan’s military could easily defeat any country and therefore there was no reason to prepare...except that it’s not the 1980s anymore.
“In theory you could fashion a form of guerilla warfare by attaching small explosive devices to inexpensive consumer grade drones. “
That’s done all the time. Often using hand grenades as the ED.
Those attacks happen on a daily basis. More guided suicide drones are being used now that the Ukrainians have been able to build many of them
The article seems like fiction, it is highly unlikely that Russian EW succeeds in downing anything like 10,000 drones per month.
A recent combined artillery and drone attack
Destroying Russian EW or surveillance equipment using a drone and artillery
“A swarm of cheap drones could do a lot of damage. They could be armed with low grade bombs for examples and swarmed into tanks and artillery positions.”
Hell, they don’t even need to be armed, at least most of them. If 1% are actually armed, then the Neocons have to figure out which of the swarm of drones are actually armed, or they wind up meeting both Allah and Zaluzhny.
Whether or not drones are being downed by the Rus, one thing that is suspicious is that the number is 10K per month...
The war has lasted 2 years...
Give them a year to put in the electronic defenses...
Therefore, the Ukes have had 120,000 drones downed...
Certainly this absurdity was originated in Izvestia...
Ukraine losing 10,000 HIMARS per month to Russian electronic warfare: report
—”They’re preparing the public to find out the Ukraine has lost. “
So Putin’s army kills most of the Ukrainians they can find, what happens next?
The Euros will not be buying anything from Russia.
In fact, the Chinese will not be buying from Russia once they have their nuke/coal energy supply running.
More than a few crazy former convicts will be in all the big cities, with their new military outlook forming their own armies.
No jobs for the surviving veterans, and no unemployment pay either. Many never received back pay.
And all the people up in the Stans where the oil and gas come from are not happy about the return on their production and the way they have been treated over the years.
So show us the path for the Russians out of the mess, for they are screwed.
From Ukraine's point of view, losing small drones to take out Russian tanks and soldiers is better than losing their own tanks and men for the same effect.
Great business for Turkey.
Great news for drone manufacturers!
Russia prepared so well that they lost most of the terrain they captured in their initial attack and now they have Free Russian soldiers liberating territory in Belgorod Province.
Even Rybar is showing the areas in Russia no longer under Russian government control.
The use of these small drones has been escalating. And so have the countermeasures. So losses have ranged from, maybe, a few dozen to 10,000. And the types of drones and their radio signatures have changed constantly too.
This is a dynamic process, not steady-state.
I wouldnt be surprised if the 10,000 number is the peak rate -at this point. Its probably going to increase.
