White models used to promote SC Juneteenth holiday blasted as ‘gentrifying Juneteenth’

Yes. That’s what I mean by usurped.

I think it’s actually more insidious than we think.

But original Juneteenth was great. Local and grass roots celebration of freedom with picnics and barbecues etc..

Nobody outside of Texas knew what Juneteenth was, until the media pointed out Trump had scheduled a rally on it.

I just clicked into a movie on netflix called Black Mirror. shoed 2 white people on the cover. hovering over the cover, the promo showed a white guy gowing thru customs... started the moviw and it was all black.

Netflix did this for a reason. and that same reason is why this white couple on the poster. they want to promote the event, but know showing blacks wont get the desired response.

HISTORY: Not all slaves were freed by the Emancipation Proclamation, nor via Juneteenth. Only the slaves of the REBEL states were freed then. Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was a wartime effort to split and weaken the South; he did NOT free any slaves in the Northern states. Slaves in the non-rebelling border states had to wait for the 13th Amendment, effective December 18, 1865.
