It isn't 4D Chess. which I assume is a jibe against Trump and his supporters, some of whom seem enamored of the "4D Chess" meme. I think it is funny, but don't believe in it the way it is apparently taken seriously by some.

What Trump did was part and parcel of American politics where effusive political support is given to someone in an election cycle in order to get them elected and thereby gain support from them for future policy endeavors.

When Trump supposedly made that comment, he likely had very little idea who that traitorous piece of crap Massie was, and was in all likelihood being advised to do so on a macro level by people who probably didn't know Massie much better. (that is a disadvantage of a relative political neophyte such as Trump was)

And criticism of that kind of Trump is fair enough. It has to factor into the pros and cons of his candidacy.

But the reverse can also be said of the DeSantis candidacy, in which he is I no neophyte and understands it far better than Trump did.

So in the light, it is quite different from Massie giving his support to someone like DeSantis who is a professional politician, and who happily accepts that support.

In a world where people think about what is best for America rather than "What is best for my campaign" I would expect DeSantis to reject the support he receive only a few days ago from Massie, and openly state:

"I cannot ally and accept support from someone like Massie who has shown by his actions in supporting Biden's veto that he supports the Communist Chinese efforts (and by extension, the efforts of the Democrat Party) to core out our industrial base and further debilitate our economy, especially when that effort involves actively opposing efforts to put tariffs on Communist Chinse products that are part and parcel of the tactics of the Communist Chinese for the last thirty years."

But I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that statement from DeSantis.

Because as fine a Governor for the State of Florida as DeSantis is, his non-rejection of Massie after this protection of Biden's Veto shows me he is simply part of the Deep State, and we don't need more of him at a federal level where he can damage the entire country, and not just his state, where his damage might be limited, and getting rid of him might be easier if Florida voters saw his actions as damaging.

No one yet. Although MTG introduced impeachment articles on Biden’s second day as well as just recently. Neither have gotten very far.

With the democrats importing millions of guest voters over the southern border—its unlikely that the republicans will carry texas in 2024.

Texas would have been lost to the republicans in 2024 if not for the brilliant work of Paxton because the democrats attempted to do the same thing in texas as they did in GA PA AZ NV MI WS. But Paxton held them off.

With paxton out of the way the dems will have a free hand to do what they want in TX without interference. Pubs lose. Even with Paxton remaining in office, all the news illegal guest voters will make it unlikely that TX will remain red.

On a related note, where the "Abolish the 17th amendment" crowd on FR to tell us how much "better" things would be if these backstabbing RINOs in the Texas state legislature were choosing Texans U.S. Senators FOR them?

Things would be sooooooo much better if the TX House of Representatives were able to replace Ted Cruz with one of their RINO hacks and appoint them for life, right? Thomas Jefferson would TOTALLY support that, right?? Guys? GUYS?!

I think fieldmarshaldj has convinced me that abolishing the 17th wouldn’t make any difference at all.

Wrong, it would make things way WORSE than they are now.

RAT controlled legislatures would appoint nothing but crooked, hard core, ideological socialists in power for life (regardless of how the citizens of their states felt about that, the RATS would protect themselves from voter retaliation by gerrymandering themselves into safe seats controlled by urban areas). You'd never end up with a RAT going "rogue" like Sinema in AZ right now.

GOP controlled legislatures (like Texas and Alaska) would appoint nothing but useless GOP establishment hacks who bring home the bacon and suck up to whatever RINO party boss wields the power in their home state. Probably mostly pampered politicians kids and GOP fat cat donors. You'd never end up with a Ted Cruz type that butted heads with the RINOs in the legislature.

Trump has over 300 endorsements from politicians. Most in DC.
Has he disavowed a single one?

Do you honestly think he would disavow a Massie endorsement?

If so? I got some land to sell you.

Massie’s endorsement of DeSantis, regardless of what lies come out of his mouth, is not a positive endorsement of DeSantis, but a negative endorsement of Trump.

Whether President Trump would or would not disavow a “Massie endorsement” is a form of a straw man argument, better viewed as a form of mental masturbation.

If Massie ever endorses Trump, we can pick up the conversation at that time, as if that is going to happen.

My point is, and you know it, that candidates don’t disavow endorsements unless it’s something crazy ridiculous
Like when David Duke endorsed Trump.

I’m pretty sure Trump disavowed that. But outside something crazy like that, why would they?

A jury comprised of all the voters of Texas have spoken and Ken Paxton is innocent.

Exactly! All of this was known, and he was overwhelmingly elected. It SHOULD stop there, but NO!

In march 'the process is the punishment' bunch, and now we'll be forced to spend MILLIONS we don't have so at the end they can go - Pfft! It was nothing.

Grrrrrr!
It makes me so mad, I could just spit!

Why are only Republicans impeached?

Because the large majority of lawyers are Democrats.

My feeling is that very few people will disavow a postive endorsement. At most they will ignore it and accept it.

Massie isn’t going to change his endorsement, and he is going to be Jack and Rose riding the stern of the Titanic all the way into the water as it disappears.

But if Massie did change his endorsement (He won’t, but even if he did) I have no doubt that Trump would highlight it by saying Massie had finally come to his senses, or something like that.

So, I suspect, in a way we agree when you said “But outside something crazy like that, why would they?”

They wouldn’t, they just might play it differently.
