There would be NO US attacks on Russian forces anywhere.

I agree that the Russian use of a nuclear eapon would likely lead to a counter escalation, leading to WWIII.
Thus, I believe that {utin is saber rattling, and he will not use nuclear weapons in response to some pinprick attacks by the Ukranians on Moscow.
But, if the Ukranian offensive is successful, (say Crimea is overrun) then the Russian will see themselves being defeated, and reduced to being an American vassal. Being desperate, they will use tactical nukes, hoping they will be a game-changer, to effect a truce, on the chance that the Americans might aceept a compromise instead of wiping out humanity.
I note that the only prominent political leader in America to opposes this lunatic brinkmanship is dispised by the establishment of both parties, of business, the media and adademia.

Russia exceeded their annual quota of nuclear threats back in February. After this they have to pay a fine.

In the greatest tradition of Free Republic, no one read the article, they just read the title. And the title is a huge lie.
In this case, no one saw the attached video, in which Putin does not even mention nuclear weapons, except for the possibility of Ukraine using a dirty bomb. So the title makes absolutely no sense.
Elsewhere in the news today, there was a single member of the Duma who talked about responding with tactical nukes, but that is not “Russia”. It is one guy. We have our own congress people who say wild things that the whole country sholdn’t be responsible for.
